One time in 5th grade on a cold, February Sunday morning, my dad took my sister and I to a predominantly black church. The reason we went there instead of our normal church was because I had been at a sleepover the night before and by the time my dad came to pick me up it would be unrealistic to go to our church since we would be ridiculously late. So, back to the story, we arrived there and the place was absolutely MASSIVE. I mean there were these long rows filled with people so there was plenty of space. We were also the only white people in the whole church. And yea, they like to sing. A LOT. It was a pretty long service compared to my normal church's (which is 2 hrs). So just put that in to perspective. But basically the people were super nice and the message was deep and interesting but LONG and the music was awesome. Just wanted to share lol 😂

When I was in Middle School my father was stationed in Germany, and I was always one to try to go to different churches. I was a Baptist, but I went to a Catholic service or two (hard on the knees), hung out in a Buddhist temple (hard on the nose) , even got bold enough to check out the Jehova's Witnesses and the Mormons (hard on the noggin). My Mom had apparently been talking to her friend and lunch buddy about my spiritual quest. The lady's name was Della. Sweetest lady I ever met in my life. I will say she tried to warn me that Episcopalians were a bit flamboyant and that the church service would last all day. I was thinking ok, business hours, right? Done by 5? lol I had to be there by 8 am. I had the devil scared out of me at about 10 am and was really happy when I could help put the little ones down for a nap just before lunch. Until I realized it was going to be 8 at night before we were done! There were two white folks there, me and some crazy old German woman who kept falling out and scaring the hell out me when she started speaking in tongues! I thought it was a medical issue, she was clearly having a stroke, but they said the Holy Spirit was on her. Well, the HOLY CRAP spirit was on me and I had to get out of there! I limped back home about dinner time and Mama just couldn't stop laughing at me. She loved saying she told me so!🤣

I visited a black church, and the strangest thing was the way they took up the offering. Each person holding an offering plate held it with one hand only, and kept their other hand behind their back, as if to say, "See, I'm not stealing any money out of the offering plate."

If your church makes you feel compelled to give them money you are not in a church. The concept of churches in general is outdated and redundant considering making a show out of worshipping is narcissistic anyway. People are worshipping a completely different god than they think they are.

If you don't go when you need to go, you are going to fart and fart and fart and fart. In the aisles. In the seats. When thou standeth up, and when thou sittest down. During morning tea afterwards. On the way home in the car with the people you love... It will happen. Volume may be under control, but not intensity. Just go, flush well, and wash your hands afterwards.

As a Pastor I totally agree. However, l take into account the length of service already finished, the congregation itself, their attention spans, the restlessness of the children, and the climate control systems in the building. Most of all, one must know their audiences, and if preaching in different cultures, their expectations. A Pastor should also try to vary his teaching styles so as not to become boring! Most of all, follow the Spirit’s leading and you won’t be just talking to hear yourself.
