Another great video filled with knowledge! What about Thailand and their gorgeous orandas? Rose, peacock, and orchid tail orandas for example. It’s also resemblance naming style, do they have other style of naming?

Great questions. The 4 ways are pretty universal. I would doubt if they have other ways. The names you mentioned sound like resemblance naming. Thank you for watching 🙏

Goosehead is not a breed, but a type of wen style. The term Goosehead can be given to any breed with that wen variation- Hamanishikis most of the time, some Lionhead strains for top view purposes and the Oranda and some Dragonhead lines to name a few. Also, all three varieties Telescope, Oranda and Hamanishiki can have the Lionhead style where they have added wen underneath their heads too which will look spherical at all angles. The Tigerhead style are usually bred into Lionchus, and few Ranchu and Oranda strains. I love how Dragon eyes are Telescope goldfish, and an added wen makes it a Dragonhead. The name can change further to Deme if it is a cross to with another breed- Deme Ranchu, Demekin is telescope cross Ryukin, etc.

I intentionally mentioned “Goosehead” as a name but not a breed named. Lionhead, Tigerhead, Goosehead are confusing because they could be either the name of Wen shape or certain breed name. As I mentioned last time, I can feel your goldfish knowledge has strong influence from Japan. If you will, you may dig into Chinese literature, which may give you a new perspective. Some Japanese terms also have roots from Chinese literature: like “Ranchu” rooted from 卵虫,”shishigensha” = 狮子头.

@@GoldfishCorner At 4:00 you stated that the Goosehhead has a conformation type. I felt different, so that's why I have my explanations added. You can tell from my explanations how i've been learning through all these years? That's so cool! I never knew that about myself! I would like to know about the Chinese way. Thank you.

@@GoldfishCorner do you know what Chinese fanciers think of crossing Grass type w Fancy type ? I find that the older a Watonai gets they become available thicker in appearance & finnage becomes more graceful

yahyamoro this is really a great question. Here is my understanding. Chinese breeders may not pay that much attention to Grass-type of goldfish. A few reasons: (1) culture backgrounds, Round and deep body indicates wealth and happiness. (2) grass-type goldfish does not have many attribute variations such as wen or eyes, or body shape. This may be an great opportunity to be fit by other countries. Like UK developed Bristol Shubunkin
