We cycled to Barangay Aglao to visit the sunken village of San Marcelino, Zambales. The lake was created after the cataclysmic eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991. Lahars following the eruption blocked the drainage of Mapanuepe River, south of the volcano, flooding Mapanuepe Valley together with its settlements. Only the steeple of the church protruding out of the water remained in one of the villages.

We took a boat to the church and climbed it to really get up close and personal. It was amazing out there, calm and peaceful. The views are fantastic. It's approximately 40 minutes from the San Marcelino Town Proper and 1hr & 15 minutes from Olongapo City by car.
You can visit the place via jeepney however during this quarantine period, there aren't any jeepneys that are traveling there according to the Barangay Aglao's Tourism Department, Mrs. Annabelle. Hopefully, there will be soon! Entrance fee is P30.00 per head, you could also camp there.
