Hey Evelyn. You missed ‘One Night’. I haven’t seen it yet but it’s a new Australian show starring Jodie Whittaker (Dr Who), Yael Stone (Orange is the New Black) and Nicole da Silva (Wentworth). From the looks of the trailer, Jodies’s character in a relationship with Kat Stewart’s character.

I’m REALLY looking forward to Sex Education. Not only are the “kids” adorable but…Gillian Anderson. I love that woman. I would have gladly allowed aliens abduct me if Scully would have rescued me! I remember decades ago reading an interview with her about the sort of person she dated, when she stated that she dated women as well as men, I about lost my lesbian mind! I haven’t watched the animated series with possibly one of the most talented people on the planet, Abbie Jacobson yet. It’s on my list. I am so angry and heartbroken what Prone did to League I actually cried. Growing up with zero representation to watching my gay daughter grow up with Callie and Arizona, all the DC comic shows. So many queer women characters just filled my heart but now we are losing them without any new ones. I love The L Word. I watched as it aired, like so many of us, almost in disbelief that I’m watching a show about lesbians. But League was/ is so much more main stream. So many more people have Prime than any paid movie channel. AND I watched League with my kid. No way in hell I would do that with L Word. She might be grows, but can’t watch sex scenes with her. It’s just weird. It really sad that most of the new stuff is horror. I’m not a fan. I watched XFiles with the lights on and more than once woke my partner because I “ heard something.”. My daughter likes cheesy horror, like Buffy. Just one more fallout for the election of the orange felon… lesbian characters are disappearing. Canceling of League, Gentlemen Jack and the cluster fuck that was season 3 of Gen Q. Women who like women are running out of representation. That’s NOT a good thing

Wheel of Time is a metaphor about power. It’s Lord of the Rings meets Star Wars mixed in with the concept of Yin Yang and feminism. Instead of The Force it’s the One Power. The one power comes from the five elements (wind, water, air, fire & spirit). It’s the life force of the universe. Women can yield the One Power but men who yeild it eventually go mad. They are kept from using it. It seems 3,000 year ago in this world men & women equally shared the One Power but the dark forces unbalanced things. Now men go power hungry when they use it but a man yielding the power known as the Dragon is needed to keep the Dark Forces at bay. The women who still hold the power like the Jedi Knights hold different powers and are part of different houses like Harry Potter. They live and train the next generation in the White Tower aka Jedi Temple of this world. It’s fascinating but light on lesbianism. The story is so good it’s not really needed. It’s a nice bonus however.

I'm nervous about watching The Morning Show cause last season they kept teasing the possibility of Bradley getting with Cory and ever since I'm like they're going to break them up to have time for her and Cory.. what is so sad is that I like his character, he is such a cool guy and a feminist (he just doesn't know it yet) but I don't want to lose my girls to have him 😔 does that make sense lol

At least you got 5 seasons... My theory is that there's this negative correlation between being good and being popular; obviously it's not a *rule*, but IMO it tends to be the case because shows that aren't really for any specific person also don't alienate any specific type of person. Law and Order: SVU is the perfect example; it's an inoffensive show (in the sense that nobody is going to walk into a room, see SVU on, and be like "are you fucking kidding me? Turn this shit off!") so even though nobody really has strong positive feelings towards SVU, nobody has strong negative feelings towards it either, so it will never be cancelled. To some degree, broad and generic shows like Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory lasted a thousand seasons because they also function well as background noise; a lot of people have no problem putting it on while doing something else; in some ways, it's generic-ness helps because it's "comforting", in the sense that it doesn't challenge you. (I find that somewhat offensive - maybe not in the typical sense of the word, but in the sense that it offends my sensibilities that something as lazy as The Big Bang Theory gets 10+ seasons while much much better written shows regularly get 2 or less. But it seems, unfortunately, like the fact that TBBT doesn't really use jokes so much as dialogue written in the form of jokes doesn't really hurt it for that reason: people get that they're supposed to be jokes, and that's good enough when you've put something on as background noise and are devoting, like, 10% of your attention to it.) To a large degree, I think smart shows that demand your attention so that you understand what's going on (and appreciate the story and characters) alienate audiences that just want to "have something on" (unless you've already watched it and have decided you like it). It's a bummer. Plus, shitty shows are probably less expensive. (Although maybe not? When a shitty show like TBBT lasts a long time, then suddenly their previously unknown cast starts to be able to make millions per episode, yet companies will shell out that money instead of making a new, lazy and generic sitcom.)

You may not have wanted an honest answer to that question, just bemoaning the fact that a show you like is ending, but it's something I think about a lot. I try not to waste a lot of time thinking about lazy shows that I don't like - they're not worth it - but it's hard to not occasionally notice how many of those shows last forever compared to probably 2/3rd of my favorite shows getting 2 seasons or less.
