I find a great destainer is power dawn. It's gotten dried aged blood out of white! Rayon is one of my fav fabrics and it can be dyed, Im about to dye a piece and I think that hyacinth is a winner! We always set colors with salt and vinegar!

Have you tried dishwasher powder (Cascade, etc.,) on food stains? I learned by thrift shopping among re-sellers; they buy stained baby clothes and wash them with Cascade to get them back to sellable condition. It totally works. Not on mustard or rust, but any normal food stain, absolutely.

I would have washed it in a degreaser before I tried to dye it. It may also have residue from dryer sheets as well. There is also a dye fixative to keep the color. Good luck!

Try c9let water on colors and old fashion lye bar soap from the Amish stores. It works well on baby formula and blood and oil based stains. Hot water cook in enameled pan for whites.

The difference between the front & back, is the front is all one piece of fabric & the back has a seam down the middle.

Ooh, that's a good question! I've never tried it, but could be worth a shot if the skirt's fabric is a kind that the fixative works well with!

It's almost impossible to get dye applied evenly in a sink or bucket. It needs almost constant agitation. Use a top loading washing machine if possible for consistency in color

Oooh, thank you for the tips!! I've never tried the washing machine method, but want to! I worry about staining the washing machine at my rental... Is that even an issue or is there a way to clean it?

After dyeing in the machine, run a hot soapy load with rags or with nothing in it.
