If you're looking for a dermatology company that will ship hydroquinone straight to your door, but phase you in and phase you out so you're not using it nonstop, look into the brand agency. Www.withagency.com I recorded a video about Agency's dark spot formula on my channel. If you search for it, you should be able to find it. I think it's from earlier this year, or late 2021. I've been using agency since September of 2021, and I still use it today. Both their future formula, and their dark spot formula. I think the brand does a great job of making their patients feel like individuals, not like one of the masses. They also include education in each shipment of how to use the product, when do you use the product, and why they will cycle you on and off hydroquinone every 8 weeks. If you've ever tried the brand Curology, Agency is their sister company. Hydroquinone is still the gold standard for pigmentation, but it has to be used carefully, and is best under a doctor's care. Agency ticks all of those boxes for me, and is something my budget can handle. Thanks so much for watching today, and I wish you all the best skin health.

I just wanted to make sure that I did a follow-up after my initial 3-month use. when I found out that 3 months is too long to be using high dose hydroquinone, I knew I had to do a follow-up. I'm so glad you found it helpful. There was a lot I didn't know about prescription active ingredients before I made this video. Every time I think about adding another ingredient to my skincare routine, I do a lot of research. My goal is to improve my skin, not cause long-term damage. I did find another company that offers hydroquinone for dark spots, delivered to your door. It's a similar program to this, but the communication between provider and patient is one-on-one. They also rotate you on and off hydroquinone every 8 weeks to give this skin a break. They also check in with you before refilling your prescription. They want to know how your skin is doing, how they can best adjust your compounded prescription before sending the next one. If something is causing irritation, they reduce the percentage. I think it's really fantastic. I love that when I'm messaging someone at the brand, it's my actual prescribing provider. The brand is agency. The website is www.withagency.com

I appreciate this review. I used Musely. Typically results will occur within 2 months. The key is to apply strong 50 SPF sunscreen to maintain results. I’ve had no issues but it would be concerning for someone to using this high of a prescription for more than 90 days.

I had noticeable results after 2 months, and was able to maintain them by using SPF 50 daily. I also don't spend a ton of time out of doors. My main concern with this product was the lack of oversight. I hope that they have made a difference and how they prescribe, and communicate with their patients since I use this in spring of 2020. I'm using hydroquinone again, but it's through a different brand. Agency has a similar program, but their communication is stellar, and they cycle you on and off hydroquinone every 8 weeks as part of their plan. They even tell you that prolonged hydroquinone isn't good for your skin. They do what I hoped Musely would do. Thanks for watching today, I hope it was helpful.

@@sharonhardin1174 They are a sister brand to agency. I use them everyday, and I like the results I've been getting from their dark spot formula. Significantly lighter. I feel like agency is good about cycling you on and off hydroquinone, to avoid long-term skin damage. That was the problem I had with this brand. They gave me a high dose of hydroquinone, and would have continued to refill it for 12 months straight. Reach out to curology or agency again. They're definitely worth the extra effort. Agency's who I recommend for people looking for a prescription level product you can get delivered to your door.

Thank you! I needed this kind of information. Was trying to go a little cheaper with Musely versus higher priced products at my aesthetician's office, but I think it's worth it to have ongoing oversight like you're saying. I'm trying the brand Agency right now. They are an online dermatologist similar to Musely, but I find that they cycle their patients on and off hydroquinone every 8 weeks. They adjust your formula to make sure that you have the spot treatment that you need. The first 8 weeks includes a hydroquinone formulation, the next 8 weeks includes a formulation without hydroquinone but other ingredients that are known to reduce pigmentation. I can have a one-on-one email dialogue with my provider, and get a response back within two to three days. I have two videos up on my channel about Agency, you might actually find it helpful. I can't afford to get these types of medications from my local dermatologist, because each office visit is $185, and my insurance does not deem the types of prescriptions I'm asking for medically necessary. I have to pay full price for hydroquinone, acne topicals, or tretinoin. I can get all of those in a specially compounded formula from Agency, and the type of careful patient oversight I would want. I highly recommend them, and it might be what works for your bank account while still delivering on your skin care goals.

I know this is an older video but I appreciate your take on Musely. I recently started using them and while I haven't had any problems yet (I'm only like 2 weeks into the process) I will say that after taking a look at my Treatment Plan, they have me on Erase with HC (hydrocortisone), Erase without HC and then a Hydroquinone Free version. So they arent actually sending Hydroquinone indefinitely, not sure if they have changed their practices or what but just wanted to put it out there. I plan on reevaluating my progress at the 60 day mark to see if I am noticing a difference at that point. I do agree that the app is a bit clunky and I do wish they made it easier to navigate. There is a support/message area in the app to contact customer support and your prescribing Dr. as well. It's just not as easy to locate, unfortunately.

Thank u so much for your honesty! I, too, had concerns about extended use of hydroquinone (AND high dosages). I had used a hyperpigmentation product with 4% hydroquinone in the past so I was well aware that long-term use of hydroquinone was not recommended. That it was removed as an ingredient from well-known non-prescription products was telling. I was very interested in trying Musely's Spot treatment because of 2 decades of battling hyperpigmentation, so the Musely ads and success stories gave me hope. However, I was concerned about health ramifications. The sharing of your invaluable experience has me more informed. Thank you.

My dermatologist burned two of my spots off with liquid nitrogen, basically it scanned up and peeled off. Only problem with my skin is I have several freckles and age spots( those weee just the two darkest ones!) so those area look like regular skin in the midst of my other freckling....but I'm ok with that cause the super dark spots are gone.....and she only charged me my office visit cost! I didn't know that was an option. I'd be worried about how long it would take my skin to heal from a process like that. How long before your skin was smooth and healthy again? I know that hydroquinone has it's limitations. My major concern is how it was prescribed and the lack of education on how to safely use it as an active ingredient. I feel like there should've been more information, not just "here's your prescription, use is every day." 😳 I'm glad that you've found something that works for you. I think they must have changed something g since 3 years ago but they do not prescribe Hydroquinone for more than the two month supply. After two months of Hydroquinone, the next fill is the HQ Free which does not use HQ. It contains Tranexamic Acid instead. That’s is what used during the “break period and after that runs out (approximately 2 months) they switch back to HQ. I didn’t have to be on top of the switching. It just happens automatically. I have been using it since May and it has been amazing. I would hate for people to miss out on a life changing product and I’m speaking as someone who has struggled with acne as well as hyperpigmentation for decades. I will say the app can be finicky at times but not terrible. In fact, I think it was more my user error in the beginning.

Before I heard you say more, I made my decision based on your statement that the product contains 12% hydroquinone. Back in 2006 I used the Obagi C-Rx system (not to be confused with their NuDerm system). It was extremely effective and contained 4% hydroquinone (note: the serum in that system is not the same as their Professional C-Serum line, which is excellent. I'm glad that it was helpful. I'm trying a new hydroquinone product from the brand Agency this month. They're similar to Musely; online dermatologist. I'll check back with an update before the end of the year after using their dark spot formula for 90 days. I like that Agency cycles you on and off hydroquinone and changes your formula every 8 weeks to give your skin a break. I've been using the Future Formula from agency for the past 100 days, and if you're interested, there's a review of it up in my channel from this week. It's very different care. It's they type of care I was hoping to get from Musely and didn't.

I’m glad i saw ur review because i was considering ordering from them but now after watching ur review im not sure if they’re truly putting 12% hydroquinone in ur prescription cream because hydroquinone above 4% is going to be harsh and intense on the skin, at 12% it was supposed to completely faded and evened out the hyperpigmentation, melasma or any dark spot but the side effects like redness, sensitivity damage to skin barrier would’ve been crazy The reason why doctor doesn’t recommend and prescribe hydroquinone above 4% is because it would go into skin bleaching mode, it would be whitening the skin into patches and it would take forever to even out and also the side effects will be very bad because kojic acid at higher concentration is also alot for the skin to handle and adding tretinion to 12%hq and 6%kojic acid would’ve completely destroyed ur skin barrier. By the way hydroquinone can be used for long term but after using for 3 months u need to take a break for 2 months and start using it again and this time u can use it for even longer like up to 6 months and then again a 2 to 3 months break, so basically u can use hydroquinone forever if u want.

Good info. I would be so concerned about the long term use of a 12% hydroquinone. That is extremely high! My derm had me on prescription 4% and would only let me use it for 12 weeks at a time. And 4% is the max he will prescribe!

I use an SPF 50 everyday. Even on cloudy days. Even on days I don't leave the house. I find that wearing sunscreen every single day has kept the pigmentation from coming back. I feel like that's the best place to start. If you're looking for a similar product at a similar price point I would recommend the brand Agency. www.withagency.com There are two videos on my KZitem channel describing my experience with Agency. What I like about the brand is that they rotate me on and off hydroquinone every 8 weeks. It gives my skin a chance to rest, and I won't have any long-term side effects from using a high dose of hydroquinone for 6 months Non-Stop. I was fortunate not to have any side effects while using this product, but it's not something that your local dermatologist would ever recommend. Another thing I like about Agency is that communication between my provider is excellent. I can email them, and in about 48 hours I get a response back. They check in with me before every single shipment, and I really feel like they have my best interest in mind. I feel like I'm talking to an actual person, and I'm not just a faceless customer receiving the same thing thousands of other customers are. Increased communication, and the education I needed to know how best to use the products is why I prefer Agency over this brand. Hydroquinone will fade pigmentation, but using it at 12% for 6 months straight is not advisable. If you have the opportunity to talk with a local dermatologist, I would always recommend that. If that is not something you can do, I feel like agency is the next best option. They're able to provide prescription strength active shipped directly to your home. Then you get a scab there and then it is either gone or barely visible. Just remember to never get sun there because it comes back. But if you are good about covering it it won't. Those spots only come out at the dermatologist in my experience. Good luck!

They continue to send you prescription after prescription, month after month, without letting you know there's a possibility of severe, irreversible damage to the skin. There are other companies that offer a similar formula with dermatologist oversight and prescription strength actives, but cycle you on and off hydroquinone. Just Google ochronosis. That's what can possibly happen with prolonged hydroquinone use. My experience wasn't good. I think it's fair to share that with others.

@@tonihogan thanks for the suggestion. I stopped my subscription because of a lack of response from customer support. I email them 4 times asking for help changing my prescription, and only got form letters back telling me to use the app. (My app wouldn't allow me to upload photos) After visiting my own local dermatologist, in September, I realized how irresponsible the entire process was. Not just for me as a patient, but everyone their I willing to continue sending 12% hydroquinone to for months or years at a time. It should be a built in part of thier service to change the active ingredient after 12 weeks. They're the doctors. They have the knowledge about the medication they're prescribing. They know the dangers and possible side effects, and by sending me 6 months of this same prescription (with high dose hydroquinone) it seemed like a cash grab. It's worrisome to me as a consumer. I won't deal with them again. I respect your decision to contine using the product, but I won't. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Please don't think my vehemence about this topic is focused toward you. It's not. I'm upset about the lack of information and communication that Musely offered me while I was using such a heavy duty active ingredient. It seems irresponsible.

It's been 2 years since I tried this product. I also like my results, but I was surprised that they weren't cycling me on and off hydroquinone. I'm using a different brand now (Agency) that still uses a high dose of hydroquinone, but every 8 weeks they send me a bottle without, so my skin can get a rest. Long term use of hydroquinone without a break can cause Ochronosis. Check it out. I hope Musely has changed how they prescribe. Long term skin damage is a reality.

I had melasma spots on both of my cheeks. I used an organic rose hip oil with geranium every other day, for about 10 months. One cheek is about 90% clear. The other one is about 80% clear now. I used a hat all the time, even when going out for the mail. Unfortunately at the beginning my bottle got wet and I ripped off the tag... now I don't know the exact name of it. I remember I got it at Sprouts. It was a small brown dropper. It came its box. It smelled really good. Also, it cost me about $20 dollars.

This Musely stuff has been on tiktok a LOT lately. I checked it against Nadinola which has a high success rate but they only use 3% and tell you to apply a thin layer, twice a day. The difference between 3% and 12% is a major red flag. Also the price, Nadinola is about $10 online as opposed to $60 from a sketchy online source. Thanks for this video, since the tiktok surge, you might find a lot more views of it!

So what are you using now to keep that spot from returning as dark as it used to be?? According to what I read about Musely, people have said that if you stop using it the spots will resurface again…..so it would then become part of one’s lifelong skin routine. You have beautiful skin…Have you found a replacement product to address the spot? I have the same spot on my cheek bone under one eye and I would love to make it less noticeable. Thanks for the update.

I switched to Agency. They rotated me on an off 8% Hydroquinone every 2 months. It's in their Dark Spot Formula. For the past year, I haven't been using hydroquinone. I've noticed that my regular skincare with a daily SPF 50 PA ++++ has kept my dark spot from getting darker. It's never going to be completely gone unless I pursue something more expensive at the dermatologist's office. I'm happpy that staying out of the sun, and wearing my SPF has maintained the corrective measures that 2 years of hydroquinone gave me. It's not nearly as dark as it used to be, and makeup completely covers it now. It didn't before.

@@thelipstickgal Thanks for letting me know. I happened upon your video explaining about it. And while I was watching it I wondered to myself “why doesn’t she just go to her own dermatologist in person and try the products they recommend….also, it is sometimes good to have them see AND FEEL your skin really well under proper lighting, etc. which an online Doc may not.” Just curious about that. But you have found the product you like and it sounds like this company is much more responsible than the Musely was. Best of luck. You look great.

@@vestcoat I go to my local dermatologist once a year for a skin check and I asked for a tube of tretinoin once. For my local derm to prescribe me any Rx for my skin, I'd have to come back monthly for a check up, and the price of the anti-aging Rx aren't covered by my insurance. The tretinoin would've cost me over $400 out of pocket for a 3 month's supply. Not to mention the monthly return doctor visit. It's just so much more affordable for me to get my Rx active ingredients from a place like Agency. $30 a month was in my budget as opposed to the $180 Dr. visit, and the costly Rx that aren't covered by my insurance.

I am now trying azelaic acid 15% along with adapalene (instead of retin A), cyspera and niacinamide. Hoping this new regimen along with continued use of good sun screen will work. Fingers crossed.

It's actually still lighter than before I started Musely. A bit darker than when I stopped using Musely. I'm trying a hydroquinone product from Agency that will cycle me through an 8% strength dose for 8 weeks, and a different format without hydroquinone for 8 weeks. That way my skin gets the benefits of hydroquinone without the side effects of using it non stop. Agency has two different formulations for anti aging; one that can contain tretinoin, and one that contains hydroquinone. Both are good for dark spots. I don't know if you've already seen my Agency video, bit it was new last week. Thanks for watching today. 😉

If you're looking for a cream that has active ingredients, and will fade dark spots, I recommend the brand Agency. I'm using their future formula right now, and I've also started using their dark spot formula. They tailor the formulas exactly to your needs, Give you 8 weeks on, and 8 weeks off with hydroquinone. During the "off weeks", you're still getting the dark spot formula but it has other ingredients that won't damage your skin with long-term use. I have a review of the brand agency on my channel if you want to check it out. It's from early fall of this year. I've been very pleased not only with the future formula, but with the dark spot formula from Agency. It's definitely a brand I recommend wholeheartedly instead of Musely.

I'm not sure if I already replied to this. Please forgive me if I already did. I wear SPF 50 religiously. It has helped to keep my spots from getting dark again. They're still there, but not as dark as before. I feel like SPF is just as important as a lightening product. It helps to maintain the work you're doing with a treatment product like Hydroquinone. I'd also rotate on and off the hydroquinone every 8-10 weeks. Talk to your doctor or Musely provider for their suggestion. If you use Hydroquinone for too long without giving your skin a break you could have some irreversible complications. (like Ochronosis)
