My Snooper 6810 sat nav packed up on our trip to Scotland, so had to research and order a new one whilst in Dunbar. I watched your review and went for the new Avtex 3 which was quickly dispatched via Amazon to a hub point in Dunbar the next day. Up to now I’m pleased with this satnav but dare say after 8 weeks in Scotland time will tell. Thanks Bob 👍

Hi Bob and Jenny, we have the same Sat nav but because we bought it in Germany so we don’t have the caravan and motorhome Club sites on, we have to look for them over the address we did ask Avtex if it was possible to put their software on but they said no and that I should buy their satnav but I had to decline on that another £400 for the same satnav was a bit much. 😉. We also have a onboard satnav from alpine and it amazing sometimes you come to a t- junction and one says turn left and the other tells you to turn right but funny enough you always get to your destination. 😂 but I wouldn’t want to be without it.

I purchased the Avtex Tourer Two after seeing your original video! I'm pleased I did as it is far superior to my other Garmin SatNav; which has been relegated to my tow car. Like you I have set up three profiles on the Avtex; car, motorhome, motorhome + tow car: I particularly like that the 50, 60 and 70 mph upper speed limits are automatically adjusted for different profiles and warnings given accordingly. The warnings for sharp bends, steep gradients and others are very helpful safety driving aids.

I used a TomTom 6000, it gets traffic updates on real time by wireless Bluetooth connectivity to my mobile phone. It can then re route you around traffic jams and sudden road closures as well as roadworks. But it's now considered out of date and TomTom no longer update it but the traffic updates still work. Used it in France to avoid the toll motorways too. Speed camera and accident blackspot warnings should never be ignored as well as bus lanes and gates.

@BobEarnshawMoHo

No, I think I said on this video or the previous, the sat nav only knows if roads are wide enough, not one way, it doesn't know what the recommended route is to the campsite. It can't possibly know if, for example residents have complained or if there are cars parked everywhere and so on. Always check the instructions for getting to a site.
