I am glad that there is little difference between PCIe 2.0 and PCIe 3.0 on these cards as I am looking at a Radeon pro WX 2100 (Business grade version of the RX 550) due to the low power requirements and cost for a PCIe 2.0 system. So now I know that the GT 1030 is not worth it. Thanks for these videos they are very helpful and entertaining!

GT 1030 is fine with 2.0, I had one with a 2600K and no problems there.

You might be able to force the Lenovo's PCIe Slot to be 2.0 speed. In my ThinkStation P310 (Intel Skylake) I can force it to be 1.0 or 2.0.

I'm now owning multiple 1151 machines. Looking forward to CPU comparison per price, since they all have celerons.

The PCI Express bandwidth/version on graphics cards that have 16 lanes, doesn't realy impact presformance. The bandwidth difference is only noticable on cards that use 8 or 4 lanes of PCI Express, because they don't scale well with bandwidth versions. By the way, I can force my AM4 Ryzen System to PCI Express 1.0 and 2.0 speeds, if I needed.

I'm thinking the main difference is the CPU rather than the 2 vs 3 of the pcie slot. Once all the textures are in the video memory it shouldn't make much if any difference. I think you are underestimating how much better the I5 is than the FX. Once Intel released their Nehalem architecture AMD was way behind each generation until Ryzen. Which is probably why Intel just kept releasing 4 core CPUs over and over until AMD put up a real challenge. Now AMD is in the lead. The i5-3570 is about 40% faster than the FX-8320 so I'm thinking that's the main difference and the FX-8320 was so slow it was holding back even these cards.

shhhh don't talk poorly about the FX line. You'll have a mob after you. I did a couple videos though about just that and yeah the FX line was a joke. Yeah I understand they were cheap compared to Intel at the time, but there's a reason for that.

Impressed by the UT3 advantage of PCIE3. What does it matter so much in this game?

The ones where there are no changes, such as superposition or beamng, the gpu is maxed out at 100%. Its not able to process the data fast enough, so its probably already using only a fraction of the ports throughput. The bottleneck there is the gpu itself, not the pcie slot. So imagine if you had a job assembling a product. If you were very slow at assembling it, it wouldn't matter how fast they brought you the parts...you'd still build it slowly. Same idea.

Just a curios question. Are those gloves anti static? I guess it depends if they are silicone or rubber. Silicone shouldnt be static I believe. But rubber is for sure.

nope. mostly because I don't' have hands that you want filmed close up.

My GeForce GTX 980Ti is only 1...5% slower on PCI Express 2.0, when compared to PCI Express 3.0, so the bandwidth realy matters on low end cards.

It looks that way in this video, but the real difference is because the intel i5 is 40% faster than the CPU in the machine with PCIE 2.0
