There we go! Nice. Was concerned about the loaded rope rubbing the sling in the last video

I was practicing this at home and the top carabiner popped sideways. making the braking device into a... Not breaking at all device. I don't think I will use this in practice

I love this idea because it allows for setting up a third hand more easily than with a Munter hitch. When rappelling with a munter, I have serious doubts about whether to extend the prusik or the munter, since the direction of holding the rappel rope is upwards. Could you explain how to set up a third hand with a Munter hitch? And, as I mentioned, in an emergency, I would do this to allow for a third hand.

How does the knot in the sling add redundancy?

The knot becomes a fixed point. Two loops on either side makes it redundant

@@summitseekersexperience I'm still not following :/ If one loop breaks, the other one won't catch you. To be redundant, you would want the loops on either side of the knot attached to both your belay loop and to the rappel biner, no?

@@zhenrad yes, once the knot is tied, you have two loops around the carabiner and your belay harness…. Go try it and you’ll see

Do you have a video on how to use a third hand?

Why would you not just use a Munter hitch (or double munter, if rapping with a heavy load)?

Twists the rope, this is an alright method but it requires 3 symmetrical lockers or 6 oval non lockers. I don't know anyone who exclusively uses symmetrical HMS's or carries around 6 ovals so this technique seems to have aged poorly over the last 30 years or so IMO.

That's cool, no twisting the rope like using a munter
