Update 7-9-2022 - Received my replacement speaker from Soundcore yesterday and gave it a torture test. 30 minutes out on the deck and it was still playing perfectly while reading 116 degrees F on the passive radiators and 121 F on the case.
They assured me that all new units purchased from now on are fine.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The ambient temp was about 91 F and initially slightly overcast with a light breeze. I let both speakers come to ambient temp in the shade then set them out in the diffuse sunlight prior to this video. The Motion Boom Plus passive radiators sat at around 95 F for 5 minutes before they began to distort. That is where the video picks up. Then, after I had turned the camera off, the full sun came out so I filmed a short bit for the end where the passive radiators in both speakers hit around 105 F.
Here is the thing, I want people to NOT buy this speaker right now and I think that would be good for Anker. Based on these temperature readings, this is not something that is going to happen to just Florida owners. These temps can easily be hit by most users in the summer time by just using the speaker in the direct sun. It is better that they correct this issue before selling more than having to exchange them.
It also turns out that a moving passive radiator does seem to cool itself a little with airflow. Someone mentioned in another comment section that opening the charging port flap on the back actually helps the speaker stay cool.
