James [26:17]: "there are still a lot of folks out there that have a very one-dimensional understanding of Romans 13...." Such an understatement, and not only with regards to Romans. Also consider the shallow teaching, and the false doctrine/theology of WOF, NAR, and Catholicism, and it removes all mystery as to why people do not know how to respond to todays events. Praise God for ministries that faithfully exegete the Word; those who rightly divide the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It’s been a year?! That means that my family and I have been going to GraceLife for 11 months now. This is the first church I’ve ever gone to with expository teaching. I’m so grateful for Pastor James and GraceLife. Brother Peters, can I ask you a question I’m too shy to ask at church; why doesn’t anyone at reformed churches raise their hands during worship? This is our first reformed church and we’re still the only ones who lift our hands to worship the Lord while we sing and I just wonder why? Thank you! 😃

I’ve been at GraceLife for a year now and can testify that you are not the only one who raises hands during worship. 🙌🏻 I do too, but typically just when the words are speaking directly TO God, rather than about God. Reformed worship music tends to be “singing songs, hymns and spiritual songs” with a lot of words - it’s like a mini sermon in every song, and you’ve really gotta pay attention! 😆 Seriously though, I think it’s more of a cerebral worship than an emotional one for many “Reformed” people. At my old church, and others I’ve attended, it was more common to see raised hands during songs that were primarily repetitive and based on emotion. If you didn’t “feel it”’you didn’t raise your hands. Just my perspective. Do whatever you feel comfortable with and don’t worry about anyone else. Worship is between you and Christ. 😊 p.s. Would love to meet you some day. I’m usually at late service.

@Caleb P I still think that this COVID Flue was serious enough to be safe and cautious. I do believe that the continuing of restrictions for so long were very political. People did get very sick and died from this Virus. In high population areas people died; not everybody. It saddened me that so many churches remained closed for so long; some never recovered - even today. From what I gather is that these Churches grew tremendously, because they either stayed open or opened after the initial Infections a year ago. Restrictions surely lasted too long. It appears his Church continues to grow without massive Infections and/or deaths. This is good news. I do sometimes question whether I am really following and obeying Jesus. But I do know this, Jesus is the begotten Son of God and the fulfillment of the Prophecies that have been recorded in the Ancient Hebrew Texts Christians refer to as The Holy Bible. There have been many times I have fell short and lacked faith, but somehow the Spirit convicts me of my sinful nature and I march on. You just may be correct in questioning my value system for I have been questioning this same issue for years. But I do thank you for your reply. I try to trust and obey God in all my decisions and hope to leave the consequences in His hands. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Just a comment from the other side (and I hope I do not offend anyone).... One thing I considered when the pandemic began was - could the Lord have allowed (sent?) this pandemic for such a time as this. I saw two reasons this could be the case ... [1] To start at the house of God and shake it. To wake up the people of God and draw them nearer to Himself. And this can only happen when we have the time to spend with God. [2] To show the unsaved their need of God and their own mortality. I found that being forced to stay at home deepened my relationship with God. All the things that got in the way - work, rushing backwards and forwards to church on Sunday ... and just being too busy to spend valuable time with God - were removed. Using our time wisely was extremely valuable. It sounds awful - but I appreciated not being able to go to church for a while. I can also see the other side - looking at it from the pastor's point of view. But was rebelling against the government really a godly thing to do? Yes, if closing our churches had been done in order to take away our Christian freedom and liberties - through a hatred of the faith - then I too would have fought to keep them open. But this was not the case. In most countries ALL indoor activities were closed down - not just church services. Why were they closed? To save lives. They were not closed (in countries with religious freedom) because of a hatred towards the true faith (as mosques were closed as well) - but they were closed to save lives. I personally stayed at home for this reason - as our church has a large elderly congregation. I noticed that in John MacArthur's church (and other churches as well) several people died because of this action of keeping the churches open - and John himself caught the virus but did not tell his congregation. In other churches even pastors lost their lives because of this action. God's Word is clear about this - when we are confronted with a choice to obey God or obey the government - then of course God comes first. But this was not the case during this pandemic. Christians were not forced to give up their faith - but were requested to forgo church activities for a season to save lives - and it did so when the rules were obeyed. A final point ... I am not a Calvinist (so forgive me) ... but surely there cannot be MORE people coming to faith in Christ because some churches decided to stay open! Only the elect can come and will come. So it does not matter whether the churches closed or stayed open really! I also wonder what the unsaved think about the rebellious state of some churches? Do they agree with it or consider it selfish? We all had a difficult time during the last 2 years - and those generally admired were those who gave unselfishly to others, and those who obeyed the rules. In the UK we had many politicians who flouted their own rules - and they were despised by the general public - as were the anti-vaxxers. Some churches saw numerical growth - because of my second point but also maybe because the general population were just lonely and lost and needed somewhere to go! But surely some may now view Christians just as anti-social and rebellious - like the far left anti-vaxxers? Anyway - just some points to consider. Like Calvinism vs. Arminianism - one day we will all know who was right and who was wrong. God bless you.
@Window4503
2 жыл бұрын
This my concern too. I’ve seen a scary number of Christians equating mask mandates, vaccines, and closed buildings (for who can truly “close” the body of Christ?) with Christian persecution. Our religious freedom is NOT the gospel, which we’re supposed to preach without or without our comfy liberties. The fact that Christians are choosing to fight for these comforts (under the unbiblical notion that we’re entitled to them) while undermining the gospel in their words and actions (cursing, threatening, rebellion, putting lives in danger, harassing mask wearers,etc.) is extremely unsettling. E511Ministries noted that this rebellious attitude might be a major part of the Great Deception, which is called a falling away/rebellion (the word has double meaning).
@Ancient-Paths
2 жыл бұрын
@@Window4503 Thank you - that was very interesting. This was just my opinion (for what it was worth) but I have not investigated this side of the matter - as the only videos sent to me were of this persuasion. Calvinist preachers are becoming more and more rebellious, uncharitable, and now seem to lack any Christian joy. We know we are to “submit … to the governing authorities” (Romans 13:1) unless they are corrupt and unjust, and prevent us from exercising our Christian faith - which neither the UK or US governments are. Regarding the pandemic - all governments were trying to act in the best interest of their people and save lives - by making restrictions and providing vaccines. Rebellious churches caused the virus to spread and lives to be lost. Our governments did not restrict the proclamation of the gospel. I did so via the internet, leaving tracts on park benches, and even gave the gospel to scammers who phoned me nearly every day. As you say - the Lord has not promised that we can sit in comfy churches listening to - often heretical - but comfy sermons - until He returns. Anyway, if this was persecution (which it is not) then God's Word says that we are to "count it all joy" and "rejoice" when we are persecuted for the faith - not to rebel and go to court. "Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you." (Matthew 5:10-12)

Uses that post to minister there. Sooo, you getting following in S/E USA. God Bless You

The US and Canada are vastly different from the US. US citizens have rights granted by God. Canada's and most other country's citizens' rights are granted by their government. If the government grants it, it is much easier for the government to take it away.

Hello Justin. Regarding your Zoom issue, some anti-virus apps block camera access. Check whether your app has a feature that allows/blocks webcam access. Also in Windows settings (assuming that you're using Windows 10 or 11), there is webcam permission options. Another thing to try, does your webcam work in a different app, like Skype? Does the webcam work on another PC/laptop? Obviously, if the webcam works or not with another app/another PC, you can deduce where the problem lies. Let us know!

We have all sinned against a holy God. We have lied, stolen, and used His name as a cuss word. Since He is holy, he punishes sinners in the lake of fire. But God is rich in mercy to all who call upon Him. Jesus suffered and died on the cross for your sins, taking the punishment on Himself. He rose again on the third day after He died. “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” Please repent and believe in this gospel alone for salvation. Come to Him.

@Caleb P Just shows your lack of understanding GOD and his word . There is an earthly authority and a heavenly authority. Even Daniel and Joseph obeyed those of earthly rule over them . How many times have you missed church of your own choice. If lack of attendance of church weakens your faith , you are in trouble. Your faith should be in GOD not a building or group of people . Ye of little faith . The sheep must be kept in the flock.

@Caleb P Expected such a question. Why do you stop at traffic signals ? That is a man made law . I will answer the question for you . When mans law goes against GODs laws . That is called wisdom or maybe just good old common sense . That is why you must know GODs laws in your heart . For you to make wise choices . If you have to worship GOD in a crowd and do not enjoy your personal time with HIM something maybe wrong . HE is GOD of all but yet your personal GOD or should be . Trying not to be arrogant but blunt .

@Caleb P Had much humble pie , know the taste well . Hebrews 10:25 (KJV) Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some [is]; but exhorting [one another]: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Is this a commandment ? Or exercising this verse against authority tempting GOD ? Those things Daniel faced was against the commands of GOD . Eating , worshipping . Do you have to worship in a group ? Mostly for fellowship. Matthew 6:6 (KJV) But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. Don’t sound like a church setting . Sounds more the way Daniel was worshipping . Not in a gathering but in solitude . A rebellious spirit is not of GOD . Hope I am not being to arrogant .

Why are you saying prison when you were in jail? Prison has different implications.

Im guessing through personal or family employment you have a connection and therefore know the difference, my like my career connects to more specific terms for me. In general vernacular, I don't think there's a mental difference between the two words. Interesting to add a new definition to the vocabulary though.

This story brings to mind "Matthew 7" (Matthew 7:21-23) Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I NEVER KNEW YOU: depart from me, ye that work iniquity He staged the whole incident anyways

No hate but every other church in the world faced the same issue and was able to follow rules to keep everyone SAFE nothing to do with standing out for God. It was able being resourceful and for example move to online or pre-recorded sermons. I admit sending James to prison was extreme but it was suppressing the spread of infection not religion

@Caleb P No Paul writing in Romans. Look all I’m saying is there is a line between faith and foolishness. God also gave us common sense and just my opinion that pastor J was not very wise in the middle of a pandemic where meeting in groups spread the infection he kept a church going with the soul purpose of meeting as a group. There is SO much more to faith than meeting as a group, yes I agree that this is a part of it but given the circumstances where people could die from covid, we have to be resourceful. Was prison too harsh sure but if people want to go to heaven quicker I suppose go right ahead

I'm sorry, but James Coates was jailed, not for opening his church when the government said not to, but for packing the building when the government mandated capacities to be lowered in an effort to stem the spread of a viral outbreak. It was not a brave stand for Christianity in the face of persecution. It was a hubristic display of rebellion that he was rightfully penalised for. And I say this a Canadian pastor.

@Caleb P I take you meet for worship in a building of some kind? And I also take it that said building has a maximum capacity set by the local fire marshal? So... as a Christian, are you free to ignore said capacity mandate which has been put in place for the safety of the general public?
@andreagiesbrecht611

Collateral damage of mandates (suicides, broken family relations, destroyed livelihoods, drug epidemics, increase in obesity, human rights abuses, soaring government debt, psychopathic masking of children to allay the fears of the adults, just to name a few). This is the government playing God trying to control that which they ultimately cannot control. These "fruits" of the government mandates are certainly not from Christ.
