It's amazing what a good paint job & a bit of weathering can do to a prop. Great tip using the hairspray; I'll have to give that one a try for sure. There was a person cosplaying as Slimer at the event I went to yesterday; I would have loved to have one of these to "chase" him around with. (It was a really good costume, too!)

Mine eventually came this morning after days of waiting for it to arrive from Chicago United States due to me living in the United Kingdom where it was difficult to obtain them due the items exclusively to amc and regal cinemas so only way I could get them from was on eBay so either way I am happy to get one. I watched videos where hardcore fans said that amc variant is way better due to having an attachment too it moreover I am happy with the one that I got. Lastly my review for it will be going up on my main channel this weekend after recording it.

I got my Ghost Trap popcorn bucket from AMC. It's a bit different from yours, as it comes with a transparent purple bucket that fits inside the open trap doors, doesn't have the LED bar on the front, and has only 3 "warning" decals. The only LEDs are inside the trap doors to light the purple bucket from underneath.

When you put the doors back on, what orientation/position were the springs in to ensure proper operation? I didn’t pay close enough attention 😂
@VanOaksProps
5 ай бұрын
There’s a small tab that the springs rest against in order for the doors to pop open. They’ll look wrong, but once the bridge piece is reattached they’ll be held in place.

Is there a way to add a fine gritty texture to smooth plastic for a prop that is going to be handled frequently without having the texture rub off from handling?
@VanOaksProps
5 ай бұрын
Sure. I like to use spray adhesive before applying paint. That way the fine texture is trapped between the paint and the prop.

The part that holds the doors in place? There were small screws that held the cover in place. Just in case, I should mention this only works on the Regal trap and not any of the other versions that were available at different theaters.

Feels like I was lied to. Not as easy as he’s making it look. I just tried this on mine and stickers wouldn’t come off, even with heat. The black knobs didn’t snip off flush, and the screws were impossible to get out. Ruined my trap trying. A little honesty goes a long way.
@VanOaksProps
5 ай бұрын
No lies here. It’s quite possible that the person who assembled mine cut corners and wasn’t as generous with their glue application. As for the decals, mine peeled up with a warm hair dryer. Do you have the Regal trap or the AMC?
@TheSmugglersRoom

Wow, sort of an unfair comment don’t you think? I have never known Van Oaks to intentionally lead anyone wrong. I don’t believe for one second he was misleading. Your prop could have been assembled differently than his.
