Thanks for another great video Mark! I recently upgraded single boiler machine to HX machine(Oscar Musica) and i must say its absolute must! Saves a lot of time, effort in long run especially when you have guests coming in !!

I don't use milk or need steaming. I just want to know if top of the line single boiler machines can make as consistent and good tasting espressos as double boiler machines.
@Wholelattelovepage

Hi LRG, Thanks for the question. IMO yes they can. And you are a perfect candidate for a single boiler machine if you do not need steaming. The waiting, cooling down after steaming etc is the limitation of single boiler machines. Most single boiler machines swing quite a bit in brew temp depending on where they are in a heating cycle. And forget about temp consistency on cheap entry-level machines with thermoblock boilers, lightweight portafilters and pressurized filter baskets. You might take a look at a single boiler machine with PID temp control. They do not swing in boiler temp like single boiler machines controlled by traditional thermostats. A popular and well reviewed example of single boiler PID machine is the ECM Classika: www.wholelattelove.com/products/ecm-classika-pid. Lower cost machine grade single boiler machines without PID like the Gaggia Classic are very capable. Just takes a little technique to know where the machine is in its heating cycle to get a consistent brew temp. Beyond that it's got all the right stuff like commercial size/weight portafilter, substantial group head and 3-way solenoid valve: www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-classic-pro Marc

Hi, Marc! It is nice to firstly leave comment here because I always look forward to watch your nice and detailed videos from here, Japan! I currently own Oscar2 for nearly a year. Now I wonder how durable my oscar is... I use it daily to make approximately 4 lattes. I know that lifespan of machine depends on the situation, but how long do you think oscar2 can last on average? If you would not consider that oscar is a durable machine, in what point do you think so? Thank you!

Great video. Wondering if you have a better recommendations then the breville grinder that might be a little more money. I've herd nothing but bad things about it with it breaking. But in not wanting to spend 500 for the next lvl up

Hi Landon. Thanks for your question. We've been using the Smart Grinder Pro here daily for over a year. Mostly grinding for drip and have had no problems with it. Grinding for drip is less taxing than grinding for espresso. But as mentioned in the video, we recommend it for lower volume use. One grinder we like a lot is the new Baratza Sette 270 ~$379: www.wholelattelove.com/products/baratza-sette-270-conical-burr-grinder It was not included in this video as it's very new (and in very short supply at the moment) so we can't comment on long term reliability. You can see it in action here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/r4Nr3Girmox-eKQ Some other options: Baratza Preciso ~$285: www.wholelattelove.com/products/baratza-virtuoso-preciso-coffee-grinder It's 40mm burrs much smaller than the Vario's 54mm. But it does have 40 grind settings with 11 micro adjustments within each setting. Not really setup for grinding into a PF like the Vario. Gaggia MDF ~$229: www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-mdf-coffee-grinder-9f22842f-d5de-4d43-9fe2-e0ffeed93f60 It's a dosing grinder. Some like dosers and some do not. Fewer grind settings but more concentrated in the espresso range. Rancilio Rocky ~$355 www.wholelattelove.com/products/rancilio-rocky-doserless-coffee-grinder: Comes in doser and doserless versions. Similar to MDF in grind quality and fewer grind settings but a more robust case with some metal. A lot depends on what type of machine you're feeding. For a quality HX machine think you will be disappointed with the Rocky or MDF if you're looking to nail exceptional shots with a good coffee. If you can wait, the Sette is an impressive grinder for the price but again no long term data on reliability. Hope this helps!

Hi Uzair, Have you checked out our videos on the Pro 500? If not, here's a link to them: www.wholelattelove.com/products/profitec-pro-500-espresso-machine Just scroll down the page a bit for 13+ videos on the Pro 500 including reviews and internal tours. We do not currently carry the Appartamento but we do carry other Rocket machines. In general, we find Rocket machines favor form over function. Profitec machines tend to use higher quality components. Some examples when comparing the 2 machines: The 500 uses a stainless steel boiler while the Rocket uses a copper/brass boiler. The 500 has massive, low wear sprung valves for steam and hot water. We tend to prefer the internal engineering/plumbing of the Profitec machines over the Rockets. Using the link above, be sure to check out the reviews written by 500 owners - they love their Profitecs!

Hi Mark, I wonder why Ceado is not offering the 3 year warranty no more as they used to ? Actually, I noticed for the E5 model is still 3 I think ,but on the E6 is only one . Is that because there are more electronics involved ?
@Wholelattelovepage
8 жыл бұрын
Hi Ajdin, Did you see the E6 on our site: www.wholelattelove.com ? The E5P does have the 3 year warranty. As far as I know we no longer stock the E6 doser grinder. We do stock the E6P electronic doserless. Looking at the specs it does say 1 year warranty for E6P on our site. That may be a mistake/typo. I'll check into that and let you know.

So checked into the warranty on the E6P. Turns out it was a typo on our site. The warranty is 3 years. Thanks for the catch! Specs at WholeLatteLove.com have been updated.

Excellent video! I brought an Oscar I just months before II came out Using it with a Preciso. I haven't been making enough espressos to justify an upgrade.And it is pretty good. But I sure want something sexier on my counter. Didn't really think of the Profitec until this video. Maybe in a few years

Hi GM, Thanks for your comment! Profitec machines are among our favorites. Here's a tip: Look for a used Profitec Pro 700 in a few years. It's a dual boiler PID with rotary pump. Even finer case work than the 500. Some current 700 owners will be looking to go to the ECM Synchronika. It's very similar in specs to the 700 but with some extra sexiness! Might get a good deal.

Hey Marc! Great videos as always. Thoughts about the Rocket Appartamento? I know you have reviewed other Rocket products but I haven't seen the Appartamento mentioned. Would appreciate your insight and thoughts compared to some of the other options available. Thanks in advance!
@Wholelattelovepage

Hi Dr J, Thanks for your kind comment! I have not had a hands on with the Appartamento yet. But a few things I've heard or seen in specs for the machine: Boiler is uninsulated - seems like the case would be really hot after awhile! Some have reported that the pump is rather noisy. Vibration pumps tend to be that way but machines like the Profitec Pro 500 have done a good job of taming it. In my general opinion Rocket machines tend to put a little more focus on the flashiness - how the machine looks. Speaking with Andrew Meo of Rocket a few years back he said it was his intention that Rocket machines have a "sexiness" to their look - and they certainly do! Rocket machines are capable of making a fine espresso. What I wonder is: Does the focus on the look of their machines mean compromises in design or components under the hood? In some cases I think it does. Another option in the heat-exchange class is the Bezzera BZ10. It's currently about the smallest HX machine we offer at just 10" wide. A hair narrower than the Appartamento and about the same price. Instead of the E61 group it has an actively heated group head. Can't say that's better or worse than thermo-siphon E61 but can say it's probably up to full operating temperature faster. Here's a video with more on the BZ10 (the switches and lights have been updated since video was shot): kzitem.info/news/bejne/xYhn0KmlsXuKn44 and here's the machine showing updated switches/lights with all the specs etc.: www.wholelattelove.com/products/bezzera-bz10-espresso-machine

What is going to give better steam power oscar 2 or profitec pro 500? Which can texturize milk the best/fastest?
@Wholelattelovepage
7 жыл бұрын
Hi Billy M, They are very similar in steaming power. The HX boilers of these machines are essentially the same size. The Pro 500's 1400 watt heating element should recover boiler pressure faster than the 1200 watt element in the Oscar 2. I'll add the Pro 500 is a much more robust machine in general with better components and finer build quality than the NSO2 - no plastic in or on the P500. Not surprising given that it costs a bit more.

Hello marc .. is this machine 15 bar or 9 bar ?
@Wholelattelovepage
5 жыл бұрын
Hi Moha, All these machines are setup to brew at 9-10 bar. That's the maximum pressure you want to use when making espresso. Sometimes you'll see "15 bar pump" in marketing specs for machines. Believe me, you do not want to brew an espresso at 15 bar! It would be very over-extracted and bitter! What 15 bar in the marketing of espresso machines means is the pumps can produce up to 15 bar of pressure. If you wanted to (and believe me you don't want to) you could adjust the OPV valves on these machines to produce more than 10 bar of pressure on the coffee. Those 15 bar specs are typically highlighted in the marketing of less expensive entry-level espresso appliances. It's the more is better mentality being fed in marketing to naive consumers. Marc
