I remember Mike Guadango training in the old Joe Defranco videos back in like 2009.. I think he wrote some T Nation articles back in the day as well.. Seems like a great genuine guy.

Best part of the podcast was when you asked Rolf why not just move an inch on the squats to maximize tpV. Pls correct me if I'm wrong, but my ultimate interpretation was that tpV is essentially some sort of proxy - a metric used to determine the magnitude of the neuromuscular stimulus being applied to the body by a resistance training exercise.

Recommend the DJI Wireless Mic 2 (I personally use the previous gen mic for my own filming needs), comes with two mics with a Magnetic or basic clip. A little pricey but comes with two mics so if you lose one you have the other. other options I'd look into Brands such as RODE Mics Keep coming with the content coach

Hi Will, how often are you training like this? I saw your videos about minimums and frequency... is it good to do workouts like this(of course medium/high intensity days) but more often?

Dude. I sent a comment to Mike two weeks ago. I got a response, gave me his number. Asked if I had time. I figured he was trying to sell me something… nope. Just was offering free advice. Coming from the stuck up world of college athletics and Cscca conferences, it was refreshing. Dood is legit as they come.

I appreciate your communication style / how you articulate thought. Any suggestions for improving that or do you think it’s in large part due to simply talking about this very frequently?

Hey Will, I got a question for you- should track and field sprinters do upper body strength training? Would doing so provide any benefit to them?

I think we all agree you and mike need a 1v1 chat about the topic. a conversation that lasts as long as it needs to be, it would be the best ending

The reason why we didn't format it that way is because I (Mike) don't feel like i'm any kind of authority to speak on the subject matter. I think Rolf is substantially more knowledgeable, so he was absolutely a better choice. Our goal with the podcast is to educate at the highest level that we can for everyone, not show how good and awesome we think we are. So if there's someone better suited for the job, we go that route. Does that make sense?

I haven't heard of Mike Guadango in about a decade (I follow Joe Defranco), i guess it's safe to talk about Defranco downplaying the Oly lifts?

RPE clearly works because many successful people use it. But you're totally right about the 1-10 scale making no sense. Should probably be a 1-4 scale.

Yeah Rolf really was filibustering and trying to explain to you, rather than accept inquiry into his methods.

To be fair to Rolf, it wasn't in an attempt to avoid questions - it's kind of just the way he speaks. He's 66 and has been in the industry for decades. Lot's of knowledge inside his head that he's attempting to access - there's just a lot to sort out and he sort of does it while he's speaking. I routinely call him for an answer to one question and stay on the phone for 25min trying to get the answer out haha. It's just his way. Super awesome & knowledgeable guy for sure.

If you get a lapel mic, you risk forgetting it on during cleans and destroying it
