Fifty years ago I lived a few blocks from the back bay. I spent so many hours walking down there and eventually bought a horse that I boarded right by the JW airport. I would ride my horse at the bay which I am sure is prohibited now. What a place to grow up! Love seeing this and learning about all the things I was surrounded by.

It's a very special place. It was so cool coming back and exploring the area with a very different eye. I grew up making forts and exploring nature around there as a kid. My work also grew the native plants to do restoration there as well.

In the fresh water marsh below Big Canyon, did you see any tree frogs?

I didn't, but if I stayed a little longer I might have. I will have to come back!

CANADA GEESE! I almost got punched out by a 70+-year-old lady birdwatcher from Sea and Sage Audobon Society for saying, Canadian Geese! It's Canada Geese.

You are correct. I accidentally said Canadian geese, and knew someone would comment about it. I made sure to correct the in the text description to say Canada geese. For shame, for shame…
