It's a train viaduct: Harringworth Viaduct (sometimes called Welland Viaduct) It used to form part of the main line to Nottingham, but is now only used by freight services and a couple of East Midlands Trains services daily. It has 82 arches and uses more than 20 million bricks.

Yup, it's definitely a train viaduct. I've got a good video of the flying Scotsmen coming over last year( not you Teapot🤣). It was even bombed during world war 2 by those pesky Nazis.

Love riding round Rutland, always stop at Barbara’s shop in empingham village to pick up a snack then sit and eat by the reservoir. Just watch out for sneaky speed cameras if you stray into Northamptonshire.

You are on my home ground, so I know every inch of this route. I think you missed a couple of great opportunities that I always ride. Out of Uppingham, I would choose the single track road around the Eyebrook reservoir .... simply beautiful. When you got to Morcott, you turned right and left to go to the viaduct, but a left turn and 1 mile would have taken you to the "Two Flags Cafe" a great bikers stopover. Finally - just after Thorpe BY Water, .... you took the long route to Caldecott, but I would have turned right on the small single track road to Lyddington, one of the most beautiful villages in England and then back up to Uppingham. Cheers

I love the roads in this area, indeed I lived in the area years back. The A47 is known for car drivers pulling out, and the bends are known for catching out riders who think they are better riders than they actually are (believe me, that's a lot)...

'The Rutland TT' was the 1st route I did on my new spanking GS as I live nearby. I've since rode some of this route with the 'Bike Safe' course with Leicestershire Police, it's a great road for them to assess you're lane procedure in those fast flowing twisties! (A606 & A6003). Other than starting from the BP petrol station there is public parking at the back of 'Ye Old Portk Pie Shop' in Melton, great to calorie up with a traditional pork pie before the route. Another stop off is the Square, slap bang in the middle of Uppingham, there is less parking parking but a couple of nice coffee houses and great patisseries from 'Baines Bakery' (3, High Street Uppingham). Also in Uppingham at the end of the vid as you see the BP petrol station, there are actually 2 bike dealerships either side of that garage, a Harley Davidson dealership & a Yamaha dealership, so worth a stop off there too. The push bike community have routes in the area too & although slightly off-piste (Tugby) the Cafe Ventoux is a great motorcycle stop off with awesome scenic views & free parking for plenty of bikes, there were a few bikers there when I last visited this year, I can recommend there too...Enjoy! thanks for the Vid guys showcasing this route 👍
