Why am I crying after watching this? I watched it as a child and now have turned 60.... It's just so upsetting to realise that some of the older characters have passed away 😢😢 you think of them as being exactly the same as they were many years ago....but time waits for no man, as they say....excellent series, they don't make them that that anymore ❤❤

Incredible series. The precursor to, but much better than, Downton Abbey. I bought the complete Upstairs Downstairs DVD box set a couple of years ago and am currently on series 4... possibly the most powerful and dramatic of them all. R.I.P. Christopher Beeny, Nicola Pagett and all of those who sadly are no longer with us.

I'm struck by how similar the storylines of Downton Abbey were to Upstairs Downstairs. It's often forgotten too Upstairs Downstairs was re-booted recently. ITV (its original broadcaster) didn't want it, but the BBC snapped it up. Why didn't ITV want it? It had, in pre-production, the juggernaut that was Downton Abbey! The Upstairs Downstairs re-boot, was quietly forgotten.
@wolandbegemotazazello

This show puts, in my opinion, the mediocrity that is Downton Abbey to shame. Downton is not even close a patch on this great show. A lot of that was due, of course, to the fact that Upstairs Downstairs had vastly superior writing to Fellowe's three minute per scene apologia for the manorial class.
