Ideally EFRIS forces you to declare your total sales yet most business owners want to understate their sales. Remember VAT forms part to Income Tax. When you declare your sales monthly it becomes hard to revise them at year end which is a disadvantage for business owners who want to understate their returns. VAT paid on imports is claimed back by the business. Note: VAT payable= Input VAT - Output VAT

Thanks for the show the only challenge ugandan traders are not embracing digital transformation however there is no double taxation. May be what needs to be done to put to use the money collected and ura controlling its workers who ask for kitu kidogo on top of all those taxes
@kasaggaivan6674

The guy explained well and in his explanation it clearly shows double taxation. For example when tradet A ships goods in uganda are taxed by URA, then selling it to trader B(who stores in the warehouse) in large amount are taxed by URA through Effris, then still sold to trader C (who takes in the big shop in kampala) also taxed through Effris, then trader D from masaka (who is a retailer) comes to kampala to big shop owners also is taxed through Effis and now to the F (customer or product user) who is also taxed through Effris. Then to me that's even more than double taxation on one product. Imagine after all that taxation what will be the final price of the product by the time the product user buys it?

Kasuku yes its understandable but the supplier tax, is still put on the final consumer coz our economy is a capitalist where by everyone has his own price. Any business that can't its liabilities its not worth meaning those taxes affect the purchasing power wc is responsible for business failing. Look at the example,uchumi supermarket used to sell goods smilar to those in small shops yet it had that tax that led to increased price of comodities,it affects the buyers as they go to small shop wc leads to the downfall.

The Tax challenge among the business community is a matter of honesty and integrity of the business personnel. Take a look, a company with holds PAYE from its employees and fails to have that money remitted to URA, and it assumes that it's the one paying that tax yet the company will have just acted as an agent on behalf of URA
@jkkizza2024

Every business owner including the leading tax payers are evading taxes in many ways to break even. With this in effect, many will collapse. Ura is only focused at meeting its targets. However there’s need to revise the different taxes, otherwise Uganda is not favorable in business for an average Ugandan. The challenge we have as a country is that people charged with assessing & collecting taxes have no business idea of what it takes to have a successful business in Uganda.

It right that all the taxes are paid by the final consumers. The traders are concerned in one way that the final price will be very high which will affect their sales. That's the main issue. Now traders are fighting for their sales but no one cares about the final consumers. The cost of living is really high. People are struggling to make ends meet. And about the double taxation they are taking about, the products are taxed before being sold to the final consumers and also taxed during the transaction but this is all shifted to the consumer.

Do u also pay those taxes in Dubai? We have all traveled madam and we are informed, don't think Ugandans are fools madam

URA should construct a muyiribi app to help muyiribi continues doing his work undisturbed, it is important to domesticate URA processes not just importing systems as benchmarked else where, please understand that it helps if taxes are collected the ugandan way of doing business, i think on certain matters it's easier to change URA than to ask millions of Ugandans to change, please create a solution for someone to carry goods hoping to sell them but who might fail to sell them and return them, or store them for a while.

Efris is a hidden tax. We are supposed to buy a machine and again that E-receipt means collecting money. Whenever you issue an E-receipt it means u must report another to URA. This automatically means we have to increase the price of those items so that we can be able to collect URA what he calls VAT. this is double taxati9n coz we already pay taxes indirectly when transporting, buying etc
