I have a Twizy, and please DONT listen to this IT guy. It is an absolutely amazing vehicle for urban transportation. In Norway you get tons of advantages using an EV, not sure how it works in Britain. I pay about 30 pence for a full charge (6.1 kWh) and it takes me effectively 70 km on a normal run which is less than 5 pence per 10 km. No monthly battery rent (at least on mine), no road tolls what-so-ever, very low government annual fees (1/8 of a normal car), extremely low maintenance fees. The re-sale value on these are quite good so it's a bargain considering the running costs and flexibility. The only issue is of course weight, a collision in 70+ km/h would probably be fatal and should be taken into consideration. For urban use, definitely consider this, if you do mainly freeway driving look elsewhere.

Look at the numbers. Search crash statistics. Motorcycles proven to be if not safer, as safe as their counterparts, cars. You may have a better protection at lower speeds, in traffic and such. But when it comes to high speed (over 100kmh) death ratios are lower on motorcycles. It's avoiding the crash in the first place. A skilled rider is more likely avoid the crash in the first place than a skilled driver. Don't believe me? Just do some research. The car companies don't want you to know about those but when you crash on a highway in a car you are more likely getting squished.

Motorcycles are like affordable fighter jets. Around the track, street, highway their speed and performance are many times higher than cars. An average motorcycle has the performance of an expensive sport, luxury, exotic car. All those things makes motorcycles are dangerous vehicle. The rider actually. Everyone can go fast. But not everyone can brake efficiently. Not everyone can do panic brakes. Mankind tend to like adrenaline, speed. But unfortunately only a few of the riders are aware of this HUGE responsibility. That is why motorcycles have such a bad reputation when it comes to safety. Stay safe.

IDK.. there's pros and cons to each one of those. Depending on where you live, what do you want to do, each one is a good choice. If you want to be cool, maybe enjoy the nice weather and have lots of FUN - MP3 If you've seen the ice caps melting in the news - TWIZZY If you've seen too many EURO NCAP crash tests - MII or better a VOLVO IMO, an old IT project manager isn't much of a benchmark to be honest :))

It has clear benefits but for £6000 £1000 for a CBT(dont even think they are that expensive, £600 - £2000 for a reasonable 125cc scooter at the highest end your still half price for an average scooter. ok you cant go on motorways and some a roads but if you wanted too in 2 years you can go up to a full licence and still save money.

+chirito85 Yeah but you also need to pay for the gear, and have a workplace where you can get changed and store your (sometimes wet) gear, plus from personal experience when you do work in an office getting changed and rid of your helmet hair adds takes around 10-15 mins when you arrive, meaning any benefit through the odd lane splitting is more than negated. On the plus side though, here in Melbourne you can park almost anywhere for free on the pavement (although don't be a dick and do it so people have to squeeze past)

Phil, £50 a month to hire the batteries is a good deal. You would spend about the same if not more on petrol for Mii/MP3. £50 a month covers the batteries so if anything goes wrong, Renault will replace them at no extra charge. You should've gone for the Twizy!
@sukhoiromantic1718
9 жыл бұрын
+Tarik El-Yabani Yeah but you still need to pay for the power to charge the battery (that you are paying to rent). That said, the engine itself should be cheaper to service than the engine in the Yourban, as electric engines have fewer moving parts than petrols.
@BritishCommentWriter
8 жыл бұрын
+Tarik El-Yabani Cobblers. Even these days, £50 is about 270 odd miles worth of petrol a month or a 13.5 mile roundtrip commute every weekday (even if you only average 30mpg), and that's before you pay for the electricity. If he could manage the 60mpg that the bike promised, it would be a 27 mile roundtrip. And if Renault want to make it £100 a month, you'll have to sit there and take it.

Here's something you obviously didn't know about trikes and quads, you don't actually have to wear a helmet with them, the law states that only motorcyclists have to wear a helmet so you could legally ride around without wearing a helmet.Renaults wisdom regarding the battery was flawed, because many people didn't buy them purely because of that wisdom.The car is just a car in the city really not worth bothering with.However if you wanted something for getting through traffic, then perhaps the mach1 electric scooter should be considered because it's quite a nice small scooter, I would place a link but youtube won't allow the link.So these mach1 scooters can be purchased for as little as £430 and you have to register them as mopeds but are quite fun to ride, the cheaper one's use gel acid batteries or you can get agm batteries or the more expensive ones are the lithium battery scooters at around £1200 but let's face it if we are looking for low cost easy to get around vehicles this is hard to beat.
@primo4904

legally or illegally ALWAYS WITH helmet ! you have no idea how easy is to beat with your head on the asphalt when you have a crush! ALWAYS WITH helmet !!!
@flitsies
8 жыл бұрын
Lyubov Lyuba Look when it comes to helmets they can cause more harm than good. You could find yourself with a broken neck for example due to the helmet twisting as you come off, no one gives a toss about that. What I say is that when it comes to helmets and motorcycles who happen to be the only people forced to wear them, motorcyclists should be able to wear a cycle helmet while riding in the city because the speeds are so low, on faster roads then yes a motorcycle helmet, but around the city a cycle helmet would make more sense, lighter, breathable and easily carried. Cyclists don't even by law have to wear a helmet yet many of them travel at speeds that exceed city motorised transport speeds, the speed limit is now mostly 20 mph so why are motorcyclists forced to wear a full on motorcycle helmet at 20 mph yet cyclists don't at any speed including them riding 30 mph or more down hill. So I don't see where the logic comes in forcing motorcyclist to wear the types of helmets they wear in the city, quad bike riders don't have to wear helmets at all or trike riders only motorcyclists. Something seriously wrong there don't you think?

+Adrian Nedyalkov The Twizy might be a good bet if it weren't for that ludicrous £50 a month rent on the battery, which Renault will no doubt increase when they think they can get away with it. Believe it or not out of the three vehicles he tested the Twizy actually has the highest crash test ratings of all three of them the Piaggio which by the way is 3 times more expensive because it's a pigo and three wheeler then if you were to go buy a Suzuki Burgman 200 or a Honda Silver Wing which are much less expensive Bikes Plus the Piaggio cost more on insurance and really won't get much different fuel economy than a Suzuki Burgman 200 or the Honda Silverwing or you could also get a variant of numerous 152 400cc scooters as well that are a better choice than that Piaggio basically any 300cc scooter or bigger will be good for the Dual carriageway or freeway if you are in the u.s. when you were talking about getting the scooter and Lee Twizy as I said it is the highest safety rated of those three vehicles it is actually got a 5-star crash test rating for front and rear impact and a three-and-a-half star crash test rating for side impact for the ones that do not have side airbags for the ones that have side airbags it has a 5-star crash test rating all the way around the seat me I would have to say is the most overall practical vehicle out of the three tested because it uses a petrol engine and it has the most cargo space and it is completely enclosed as well as it has a heater and AC which means it would also be good for a long road trip but for his need and being able to get around the city quickly and easily the Piaggio if he only has those three vehicles to choose from is the best choice because he can actually filter on it which will help get him around the city a lot quicker or what he could do on there really really inexpensive end it just by himself a damn bicycle and get around on a bicycle and wear a backpack in London they've proven that during rush hour you can get around the city one side of the city to the other side of the city just as fast on a bicycle as a few Road a car or took public transport although on the motorcycle you can get around a little bit quicker because the bicycles and motorcycles are following the same laws as far as not having to sit there and wait as a full Lane and being able to share Lanes but the bicyclists on average do get around even faster than the motorcycles cuz most of them are red light jumpers on bicycles where is the motorcycles actually sit there in traffic and obey the law generally.
