How do you think these lenses performed? We are BEYOND impressed and can't wait to see what Samyang has to offer in the future for mirrorless systems. Where to Buy Samyang Lenses: bit.ly/38uFjFz

I can't believe you got those shots with that 3rd party lens. But in all fairness: you had a model that has eyes for days! I'm not sure you can even get a bad photo with her. Man oh man! Good eye also, on your part, Pye. Excellent set up to those images.

I honestly don't care about the Samyang/Rokinon lenses for the RF mount (I'm primarily a Nikon shooter) but I stayed because of the process and the final images - absolutely gorgeous! Smart move posting that image of Bushra in the thumbnail. Very nice sort of "tutorial" about finding great light no matter where you are.

Brilliant video. So totally enjoyed the process. Thanks for taking the time. I am a wide angle junkie with an RP. Currently rocking a Tamron 15-30 f/2.8 for EF mount with an adapter for the RP. It’s a good lens. But I recently found out that it’s closer to 16mm and that pissed me off. So considering this Samyang 14mm f/1.8, the Samyang 10mm f/3.5 (EF mount) and the Irix 11mm f/4 (EF mount). Any suggestions? P. S. The others are right. You were working with an absolutely gorgeous model.

I own the 85mm and I love it. The only issue with it is that the lens station needed to update the firmware is nowhere to be found in the US. I had to buy it on Amazon UK. Took 5 days to arrive which is impressive. Great lens and I'm planning on getting the 14mm as well.

Photos looked great as can be expected from Pye and a great model. As for Rokinon lenses they are a great value while they work, but based on experience it’s tough to get service, and parts are nowhere to be found compared to Canon. So if you’re okay with your lenses being throwaways and the autofocus/aperture blades being less reliable in return for decent quality at a bargain price, Rokinon can actually be a compelling value proposition!

Hey Pye. I have a question I hope you don't mind answering. I have recently purchased a Canon 85mm but find it misses focus a lot when wide open. Is there some way to combat this. I heard you mention Alservo. Is this what I need to do for portraits with this lens?? Many thanks. Another great video 😊
@mxilplict
3 жыл бұрын
DSLR or mirrorless? What version of the 85mm? The 1.2L is notorious for missing focus with DSLRs, even the 5d4. Assuming that you are using a DSLR and not mirrorless with EyeAF I would: 1. shoot an appropriate shutter speed (>1/200) to mitigate handshake, 2. use AI servo to mitigate your subjects movement forward or back relative to the camera 3. select the focus point on the nearest eye (or focus/recompose after getting a lock on the eye from center point) 4. shoot several frames and pray one is in focus!
@gillfry1669

@@mxilplict thankyou for replying. DSLR - Canon 6DII and latest Canon 85mm. I do 1,2 and 4 but haven't tried Alservo. So will give it a try. I must say I was disappointed at the missing focus. When it nails it though, it nails it!!

Harsh light ( turned brightness down on TV ) No real conclusion on lens performance. Did you use eye detect ? Do you use the viewfinder ( are they a thing of the past) surly holding the camera away from your body could cause image blur. Like any new gear long term reviews are needed.
