In the 1950s-60s, above it was a small shop, run by my father, used by people who worked in the offices around. It had stairs down to a very small basement, where there was a toilet. Next door was a shop selling copying machines and the like. I was frequently in 'our' shop, and the office buildings all around, because I worked in Cunard Bldgs. No-one had any idea of what was beneath them, and I was amazed when it was opened up and I was able to go and look around. Michael Martin

"Secrets": The interior of the Martins Bank Building, that until a few years before filming was a functioning branch of one of the largest banks in the UK. The Royal Liver Building. The exterior of the Oriel Chambers, which thousands walk past everyday. The Chinese Arch. The Philharmonic Dining Rooms. An 80s built recording studio. As he mentions the Beatles, Mersey beat & Music 11000 times, the existence of recording studios in the city may not be that secret. Parkour, at the time of recording a sport that was mandatory in every film, TV show and music video created. Made Coronation Street interesting for a bit. This was on perhaps the most famous set of steps in the city. The Metropolitan Cathedral. The Museum of Dentistry, led in by a swipe at Scouse teeth, from a Scot, one that's clearly got awful teeth. Hitlers visit, that may of may not have happened, his brothers house isn't there anymore either way. A bunch of advertised galleries/restaurants in old warehouses. The tallest building in the city.

@@danielhill7390 I'm sorry but it just isn't true it's just an urban myth, a Professor from Liverpool Uni spent five years researching the possibility including contacting the remaining family in New Jersey and came up empty. Bridget Alois's wife mentioned it in a book manuscript in the hope of boosting the chance of a lucrative deal but there is no corroborating evidence from anyone including Adolf Hitler himself. The story got a new set of legs in the mid 80's when a graphic novel about the story was serialised in a 2000 AD spin off called Crisis which put a bit more flesh on the story but it was a work of fiction. Liverpool School of Art and Design (The Art school) had only just opened and wouldn't touch working class British students let alone a penniless Austrian, one story I heard even had him writing Mien Kampf in the Picton Library but it just one of those myths that has taken on a life of its own.

Didn't even touch on the fact it was where the railways were born. Good programme nonetheless. It's HOME, it's vibrant, we get knocked down but we always get back up. If people don't like us, we don't care, it's THEIR loss. The culture bunker. I moved away in my late teens when thatcher tried to crush us, and failed. But the city doesn't leave you, and I'm HOME and proud to be a Scouser. ❤ Liverpool ❤

If you detonated a ten mega ton bomb over Liverpool it would do about £3 worth of damage

The presenter is a bit too much of a smart arse for my liking.
