Bronx parks are the jewels in the crown of urban development. Thanks to the people who work to restore this natural birthright.

70 years ago The River Thames and it's tributaries that flow through the centre of London England was considered a dead river, after an active clean up campaign The Thames is now the cleanest river that flows through any capital city in the world. It supports over a 120 different species of fish including Salmon, Trout and Sea Trout. Colonies of seals now live in the estuary and even 'Bottle Nosed Whales' have swan up as far as London Bridge. The River Wandle a very similar river to 'The Bronx River' and close to where I grew up was a stinking drain 50 years ago, many stretches of it now have returned to the 'gin clear' chalk stream it should be with a clean gravel bottom and glides of bright green water weed. The trout have also returned up to 10lbs Don't give up on The Bronx River of course its restorable Rivers are fantastic at cleaning themselves with a bit of help from good folk prepared to get stuck in removing all big junk and then stop throwing more trash in. In London we spent 2000 years destroying our water ways if the Thames can be brought back to life there's hope for all rivers and it looks like the Bronx River is well on the way. Well done NYC/Bronx you're doing a grand job.

I grew up in the Bronx. Many times we would walk along the river and it smelled bad and had a dark green color. We went into the "Botanics" and would walk all the way to Fordham Road. I am so glad the Bronx River alliance is doing so much good! THANK YOU!!!

Congratulations! If no one tries, no one succeeds. It’s not perfect, but it’s better than it was. That’s a great message.

There will always be naysayers.. it wont work. and they never do anything to help.. but the river looks clean to me.

The river looked clean to me, as a 12 YO back in 1968. We swam in it, played in it, and I grew to be 70 so far. Just wear protective footwear. After getting cut up from all the broken glass and other unknown sharp objects, we never went wading in the river without sneakers. Of course we used skippies. I would never have worn my Pro Keds in that river.

Take the dolphins back to their natural water! That's not a place for them. Leave her there, instead.
