After a recent encounter with some young Africans complaining about their African parents, one thing became obvious, and very sadly! There is a disconnect in the communication and relationships between quite a lot of African parents and their children, with very worrisome outcomes. And yet, many of these parents do love their children and do want what's in their best interest!
Sadly this situation is avoidable. So changes must be made immediately by both parties, so that we reduce incidents of family disintegration.
As with everything in culture and society, African parents learn parenting from their own observations and experiences as well. And because we now have a lot of Africans in the diaspora, the children observe this difference and in comparison, may naturally feel weirded out, and in fact bullied. In actual fact, even in Africa, living within the societal norms, children do feel parents are harsh, even without any comparison and wish the relationships would be less combative. And yet, these same children grow up to continue the same patterns.
The truth is that too many African parents are perceived as one extreme or the other; either too harsh or too soft in the upbringing of children. Even those who try to adjust may be adjusting by singing to the extreme.
Having observed and analyzed this issue recently, the answer is now clear, as discussed in full video.
Please, watch and make the adjustments asap.
