You should ideally want 30-60 minute after a meal before you start brushing your teeth. Your teeth are the most vulnerable right after you eat because the bacteria on your teeth produce acids from the food you consume. Instead you should wash your mouth with tap water which has fluoride and wait 30-60 minutes. The reason for the wait is for your saliva to break down the food in your mouth and to remineralized the damaged teeth from the acids

Dental assistant here ✋🏽✋🏽 It's recommended to wait 30 to 60 minutes after eating to brush your teeth since the foods we consume have acidity in it. I actually brush my teeth 3 times a day (where I work I get an hour of lunch) so I'm able to brush my teeth like I always do. Twice is a day is recommended here but it never hurts to be extra with your oral hygiene as long you're doing it correctly, (floss, brush your teeth for 2 minutes, brush your tongue with a tongue brush and use mouthwash in the end) I also don't rinse after spitting out the toothpaste and wait half an hour after to use mouthwash as well. Unfortunately I have mild periodontal disease and lower gum recession so I'm very strict with my oral hygiene. These have been the ways to help my gums get better overtime. As always it's best to talk to your dentist or hygienist and ask what would be best for your oral hygiene. Don't be shy or scared, It'll help you in the long run

Brushing immediately after consuming food / something acidic can damage the enamel layer of the tooth. Waiting about 30 minutes before brushing allows tooth enamel to remineralize and build itself back up. Do NOT brush your teeth straight after meals! You’re damaging your teeth. Wait half an hour before brushing. And don’t use mouthwash at the same time (or swill your mouth out with water), you need the toothpaste / fluoride to stay on your teeth to protect the enamel. Use mouthwash midday! No need to brush 3 times a day, twice is enough. Flossing is recommended though!

Now we have dental picks and these tiny preset tooth brush picks style with toothpaste in them for on the go. Rinsing your mouth and flossing is a great way for any more then 2 or 3 times a day is needed. Rinse with mouthwash and floss when needed when not able to brush or to avoid brushing too much. I suspect this is because the attitude in the USA is that people aren't always happy about taking so much time to do things, and electric toothbrushes can clean teeth quicker than manual methods. I also wonder how much the dentist gets as a kickback to recommend them ;)

@samaraisnt

@@Womandalorian that is super rare though, sepsis can also happen to anyone with any infection & does not always lead to death, it just can. I mean yeah brush your teeth because your mouth will just get full of bacteria and rot but there are def people who don't and they don't just drop dead, it's a rare side effect. IMO the worst thing that will happen to most is VERY ugly teeth, an absess (pretty sure that can likewise kill you/rot a hole in your mouth) or a severe tooth ache. I don't know anyone who wants to experience those things. Some people can't help it I mean everyone knows they should but there are homless people and those who struggle mentally who literally just can't. So try to be more kind maybe instead of just telling them they'll die. Not productive.
