In 1992 my visa was rejected, due to lack of family ties in UK, this was in grosvenor grove embassy in London. They asked me to re apply in 1 years time, so as i travel alot, i went to many countries, so i decided after 24 years to apply for a visa in March 2016, i completed a DS160 form online application, i stated on application i was refused visa under family ties to uk in 1992. Explained everything, did not hide anything. After the interview she said thank you for being honest with me, you have been refused under section 21g or 214g and gave my passport back, and letter stating that. In the letter it also says the documents you provided will need to go to homeland security for checks and for them to approve, that will take 8 months now at that point she asked for confirmation appointment slip, police ACRO certificate that expires in 6 months time nothing else, its called Administration processing. After 5 months homeland send my documentation back to us embassy in London, i get an email from embassy to send my passport in and it came back with 5 years visa with multiple entry each stay 6 months dont need esta. What went in my favour iv been living at my address my since 1990 and home owner, i made so many trips in the last 5 years Canada, Australia, Mexico, hong Kong back to Canada, dubai, Qatar back to Australia then Canada then last 1 south Africa. I obtain visa for Australia, Canada and south Africa with ACRO certificate. Homeland security had to check if iv been arrested in any of the above countries etc... so people dont hide nothing. She asked me what is purpose of visits, i said American friends i met in Mexico and Canada, they came over to uk stayed with me, now they invited me for 15 days. Why 15 days??? I have to get back to work in the uk, + i had family medical and care ties to uk. Let me say 1 thing, if you have been deported, returned or have any current or past convictions they will know, on their system it will say "No Further Trace" meaning you have convictions in the past but the ACRO certificate allows homeland security to check what convictions. No Further Trace = in past minor cautions, conviction 1C Nothing Pending = 1 serious conviction over 5 years old. This you might be luck to get visa, its 50/50 chance depending on the conviction. 1CP = 1 Prison sentence, again fraud, GBH, ABH, Drink Driving, firearms = No visa. Pending = court cases etc depending on outcome via granted or refused, if its refused you have to wait 10 years. Granted that means the outcome of pending your issue with police/courts no further action. May friend tick no esta visa on conviction, he got the esta visa, but Atlanta airport sent him back in 2017 saying you have an conviction = No Live Trace, it does not state what conviction it is, but sent him back saying you are ban for life time via esta 90 day visa waiver, and must apply for non immigration b1,b2 visa. Waste of flight money... He got his visa yesterday pick up from dx... he had to fill out a form and provide ACRO certificate for them for to realise data to immigration at the us embassy. If you are applying for D160 visa do not lie that you dont have conviction they will know you have, but will not state what conviction. It will be rejected. Thats not going to look good that is misrepresented = 10 year ban for applying. Good luck everyone

Got my visa 2 years ago. First time I didn't get it because the stupid fuck was rude and just uncooperative. 2nd time a different person interviewed me and asked me if my purpose was to visit my then boyfriend and I remember I swallowed hard and slow thinking whether I should answer yes or no and I told the truth and said yes and he granted me my 10 year visa. Now I'm married to my husband and now in the process of applying for a green card.

This video offers terrible advice! He talks a lot about inviter and invitation, when travel.state.gov clearly states, *"A letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support is not needed to apply for a visitor visa. If you choose to bring a letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support to your interview, please remember it is not one of the factors used in determining whether to issue or deny the visa."* Also, he says on one hand to have no family in US, then on the other he talks about visiting grandma.

Prepare an itinerary and then you can arrange for a hotel reservation but dont pay in advance. Do not pay anything until you approve. Embassy dont require the applicant to bring some supporting documents. But its up to you if you want to prepare. When I applied they didnt get or ask my supporting documents. Just answer what they want to know more and confirm whats in your DS 160. Just answer them and tell your story. Just be honest and asnwer them clearly. Good luck if you want to apply now. Just do your homework - find your strong ties :)

Maybe prepare higher than than you expected expeenses during your vacation. Always keep in mind that the visa process or the interview process specially for applying a tourist visa is not all about the documents its about the conversation with the applicant and the consul. Just answer the questions clearly and honestly. When i applied they didnt ask my documents but i prepared.

Due to Washington done checks on the esta, Most of people who have esta visa the get granted then denied admission will have "No Live Trace" to their system that means he has nothing live, but in past he has been arrested, cautioned, conviction, but does not state reason. What kind of Visa your friend applying for you? is that Tourist Visa? You need to show in your interview that you have Strong Ties in the Philippines. It is important that you have a job or a business like small store. they also ask about your family in the philippines. If you are married and if you have a kid. Those are the ties they want to know and how strong. They will ask if you have work how much your income. Its all depend in your application form.
