For F15EFLYER - sorry, if you are truly active duty, you would know how important all of our military services bands are. They are as much a part of our public relations as those who provide MEDCAP missions, humanitarian relief missions, and other functions which project the good America has to offer. As a retired Navy medical specialist, with a music background prior to enlisting (including as a DCI alumni), I am in total support of musicians such as these. And this performance reminds Americans why we pay our taxes and where it goes. In this case, for the common good. From a Navy retiree to our active duty service members...GOOD JOB!

My husband was a bandsman with the Army 7th Infantry. Service musicians give up a lot of their "personal" time. Concerts are usually in the evening, parades on the weekends and there is frequent travel to fun places that the musicians don't have an opportunity to see. My nephew is in an Air Force Band. When they march through Disneyland he gets to see the back of the airman in front of him. Bandsmen still have fitness reviews and yearly, um, they called it "bivouac" back in the 70s. My husband got to luxuriate in a tent with the heat, poison oak and rattlesnakes at Fort Hunter Liggett. In the chaos days after 9/11 my nephew took a rifle and did patrol duty with his unit in a local airport. They do boot camp like any other recruit. A full days work is put in. Players of the caliber of these videos don't just practice an hour a day. Plus there is a lot of work put in on marching and staging. The smooth flow you see doesn't just happen. I don't know about the top bands, but regimental bands and post bands don't have roadies. They haul their own equipment, set up and break it down too. Musicians who want to join the top bands must play multiple instruments, and play them very well. The singers are top flight. But they don't sign autographs or get revenue from CDs.

So, should we censor the great prophet Jesus of Nazareth who has a couple of billion followers, along with George Frederick Handel? I clearly heard sung references to the founder of Christianity: "Jesus" and "Jesu" Is the AF Commander subject now to discipline? May the Spirit of Love prevail.

Thanks for posting, just FYI everyone the one on the official USAF youtube channel is much better quality, I think something went wrong when this was encoded by youtube or something, the 1080p of this one isn't as high of a fidelity as the 720p version on the main USAF account named AFBlueTube (Which is unfortunate because that one doesn't have the talking at the end by Comm. Lang, however it is a much better version for a Christmas Playlist :))

Though, the one on the account TheUSAFBand is the same version as the one on AFBlueTube, and it seems to be the main version of this video with 707,748 views currently.

Chris Sullivan please don't ever say that again I serve in the Infantry and I'm glad that each service branch has a band because it plays major public relations role and acts as representatives of each branch to the public and it's vital to our military as whole and that's what separates us from ISIS and Al-Qaeda is our ability to be a positive influence among our communities and one of those avenues is through music the ability to create trumps the ability to destroy which is what our enemies are only capable of.

why do you say happy holiday in states,and not merry christmas?
@alwilliam3379
10 жыл бұрын
It refers to a collective group of holidays. Thanksgiving on the 27th of November is the official start of the 'Holiday Season', then Christmas, New Year, Hanukkah - that falls in the same time frame (varies every year).and the cultural holiday Kwanzaa.Then you have the Orthodox Christians that celebrates Christmas on or around the 7th of January based on the Orthodox calendar. Also because there are several religions in the US, and if you don't know the person's particular religion, it would be safe to say "Happy Holiday" (for whatever holiday they maybe celebrating).
@privatespam
10 жыл бұрын
alwilliam you mean the pressures of political corectness have cowered you,if a jewish person wished you happy hanukkah,would you feel offended,angry,etc no i would think not,so why do you think someone would be offended if you said merry christmas which in a predominantly christian country like usa would be a reasonable thing to expect if you live there,
