Hey Matthew! I imagine that in fact there is NO bottleneck. The Sandisk Extreme is rated for around 500mb/s, which is within the 5gbps threshold. So is the UHS ii cards. I imagine that only if you step up your game with a CF Express card, and a Sandisk Extreme PRO ssd (rated for 1000mb/s) you would see the benefits of the 10gbps capable speeds of the Anker.

I truly hoped Fujifilm would have gone CF Express. They are larger, but that’s what dreams are made of.

I’ve seen faster file transfers in iPadOS 14 directly from the tablet to SSDs. Time to retest the hub.

Saw a reply from Anker on amazon that this hub only supports up to UHS-I. Thats up to 104mb/s transfer speed. I guess you were right, thats the reason transfer speeds were the same. What might work is buying a small usb-A uhs-II card reader and plugging that in seeing as you have 2 usb-A ports

Is this device work with iPad Pro 2021?

These hubs should work just as well on newer iPad Pro devices.

Hey what about the Vava ? Also can someone help me find my bearings ? There are like 3 versions of the ANKER usb hub .. 7in1 8in1 and 9 ... any differences ? / bottleneck. Cheers

Anker does not make it easy. The main differences are ports. If you want a USB-C data port that’s different from a USB-C PD port. Do you need an Ethernet port...etc? Those are the primary differences. But I also kept to the 10Ggps spec rather than the 5Gbps. That led me to the Anker PowerExpand 8-in-1 . So far so good.

Here are my thoughts. The real bottleneck is probably the SD card, its maximum speed is quite low so everything else gotta wait for it. This is the slowest point, but there are also other probelems. File transfer speed has been quite low on the iPad compared to what it should be (but it seems like this issue has been improved on iPad OS 15). Also, your external SSD support up to 5gbps speed, so the 10gbps speed is not utilized. Lastly, even everything else is all good, the hub most likely won’t give you the theoretical speed like you anticipated
