Great lesson, John. I’m trying to transition over from flatpicking to fingerstyle and a Blues in E is perfect. The notation for your premium members is also perfect. I’m so glad I joined the Blues Guitar Institute. You and maybe 2 other guys on the Internet are the best online teachers.

Hey John ! I have been watching finger-picking and trying to find the time/enthusiasm to tackle it properly. Then this came - and I am taking my guitar to get started at 2:28 am. Thanks !

Hey! Thank you for bringing ornamentations in this classic pattern! 🤗👍I was stuck with the basics of the 12 bar blues in E, I'm still trying to get more familiar with the fretboard and pentatonic scale...it's not that easy to figure out where the "melody" or turnarounds or licks are...

So glad to hear that, Nicole! This one is definitely beyond the basics and I hope it keeps you moving forward!

What type of parlor guitar are you playing on this video ? I really like the Delta blues style of guitar you teach. Can you do a lesson on the positioning of the fingers on the fretboard for chords like the d chord that one can move up and down the fretboard. You are a bit advanced for me but I do get a lot out of your videos in smigens and pieces. Thankyou, db.

Hey Don, the guitar in this video is a Larrivée OM-09, it's a good bit larger than a parlor guitar. This might be a bit advanced, but this lesson may help with the moveable chord shapes like that D chord: kzitem.info/news/bejne/tmhjs5ehqH6ooIY or this one: kzitem.info/news/bejne/loODv4avnHmJaIY

I dislike the harsh squeak that sometimes happens when a guitar player slides up or down the fretboard... Which kind of acoustic guitar is least likely to have that problem?

I think you'll find that it is just his good quality mic. That finger on the string thing is part of the acoustic blues sound. The same with slide.
