it needs to be plain old table salt. not himalayan salt. take about 1/4 of salt with enough water to get it down. this way the salt works its way into the cell. if you drink with 8 oz of water. you flush out the salt you just took.

What a life changer! It is amazing most of the time it will stop the migraine completely, but bare minimum lessens the intensity and duration. Maybe next time I will repeat the salt dose and see if the migraine completely goes away. Thanks for the video :)

Renea, you probably want to look into Dr Angela Stanton’s (PhD) protocol for migraines: her book, Fighting the Migraine Epidemic: Complete Guide, and her FB group where you can learn to apply her protocol (free of charge). Migraines are caused by an imbalance between electrolytes, so learning to balance sodium (from salt, foods) and potassium (from foods) is key, and very empowering!

Yes. I have suffered with severe Hemiplegic migraines since 11 (40 years). Sodium has been a live saver for me BUT it is NOT enough - specific migraine suffers MUST lower potassium intake as well. Dr. Berg this is because Potassium is stronger than Sodium and puskes sodium out in our urine (that is how it can lower blood pressure) Since This brain channel is malfunctioning we have too much potassium a decrease is necessary! I found this out the hard way as I was eating 2 avocados per day for 4 years with intolerable migraines (before I found out each one of those had 900! mg of potassium). For example: My blood work for the last 10 years (100 tests) has been borderline low sodium and border line high potassium ..no matter how much sodium I consumed in food and water! I also have had chronic migraines for last 1.5 year everyday! Then I started lowering potassium by rinsing cooked veggies - NO avocados and also started intermittent fasting 18 hrs a day. 3 months later my migraines went away for first time. I got my blood work and coincidently my sodium and potassium wer ein the middle /normal for the first time in 100 tests! Migraine free now 2 months since. Thanks Dr. Berg for all you do. I am not sure how much is lowering potassium and how much is intermittent fasting but it IS possible! My expertise /master sis in logic/stats and education but I think I had to get to the threshold wher eI was consuming more sodium than potassium (I was still eating potassium) in order for the body to balance? This is just a guess you would know more and what role intermittent fasting has playe d in my body finally achieving hemostasis --Very thankful!

Yes, Eureka! Even the ocular migraine with its seizure quality, its ever widening blindspot and visual prism forms... all of those features go away with more salt, and of course, water. While we are often primed toward negativity bias, and may search for numerous disease etiologies... investigating salt depletion is the Occam’s razor applied successfully again and again to what otherwise is treated by medication, Brain scans, etc. I see again Dr. Berg’s RBI in this odd medical game batting way way over 300 consistently. Admiration and much thanks, Dr. Berg, for caring enough to do this public teaching and offering elegant insights. 2 weeks late edited: main point: Yes, potassium is 4700 mg. So, I’m going for 10 cups vegetable daily. Swiss chard, potassium supplement. Potentially 5g, iodine salt and possibly simple oceanic salt form: altogether 5g daily.

I nearly died after I was injected with a migraine biologic drug called Aimovig. It’s a CGRP antagonist. I suspect I had a build up of calcium and my bloodwork was up and down, showing low sodium. I’m otherwise healthy and only get migraines sometimes. I wish I’d researched the biologic more instead of being complacent. This “medicine” is in your system for five months! So I was bedridden for months! If you have trouble from it like I did, your committed for half a year! And since it’s a biologic, one can’t legally pursue the manufacturer! Dr. Berg’s supplements helped me to heal and recover from the damage of Aimovig. Thank God for Dr. Berg! 🙏

I used to be in that horror show too. Corrected my diet(mostly), got better sleep, and got away from the stresses(praise the lord). Those migraines cause so much pain yet most people around you don't care until they get their hangover headache from boozing. The doctors don't know what they are doing and most don't care. Since they can't x-ray a headache they want to call you crazy and put you on psych drugs. It's madness out there. Thank God for doctors like Dr. Berg and Dr. Bergman and others that actually care to help mankind. Migraines is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemies(maybe a few of them lol). I hope you didn't also get those Trigger Headaches. Those are straight up torture. The pain makes you hallucinate and your body starts having allergic reactions(best I can describe it) to all the neurological activity. 50% of people with Trigger Headaches commit suicide. Headaches and pharmaceutical drugs can destroy your life.

4 decades of migraines with visual aura that 100% of the time led to an attack....except.... Aura started appearing last Saturday. Tried your advise on placing a pinch of ordinary kitchen salt under my tongue. My vision started improving within 30 secs and 5 mins later, I was back to normal. Migraine didn't return. Aura has never before disappeared without the headache taking it's place. No pills have ever come close to that kind of effect. If that remedy is repeatable, you are my new hero! God bless.

Thanks for this. Doctors need to attach greater significance to patients intuitions and experiences. Many years ago I suspected the potassium pills they gave me for kidney stones were causing migraines, so I quit taking them. Also years ago my doctor mentioned I was a bit low on sodium - not that it needed to be fixed, but it was considered odd with so many people getting too much sodium.

I was on a no salt kick, since the early 90’s, I don’t like salt and I thought salt would be bad for my heart. I started adding IV Liquids every morning, with 3 Nattokinese capsules (to lower my cholesterol, I have tried every medication for Cholesterol, including the new expensive new shots, the same thing with my migraines, I have tried everything, including monthly shots, no help). My migraines are not completely gone, but they are mostly gone, for the first time since the early 90’s. I wish I would have known about salt, the IV Liquid packets have salt and they have helped me so much for almost 6 months!!

Your reasoning appears close to the truth, I was chronic migraine (frequent/daily/always) headache without any particular cause.(many (type of) treatments but no relief - daily one or two paracetamol) I had noticed, while suffering, I sleeping, if I keep a small piece of lemon or mango pickle, I was getting relief little faster. But the same effect was felt when I was eating lots and lots of chocolates to lessen the headache pain. I think this needs lot of research, Thanks

2 teaspoons of pink salt dissolved in hot water with lemon juice, taste is awful but it works as well as any triptan medication. Genius! Now I just need to remember to keep my salt intake high or I get migraines and need to do a salt flush. I have a team of neurologists and a cupboard full of serious medication with life altering side effects, but this works a treat.

WOW, you are the only person that I've heard of having 'silent' migraines, besides me! When I was told that was one of my issues, I was clueless. The Neurologist reminded me that I was having the same physical symptoms as I'd had 30 years before, just without pain this time. Extreme stress, especially for an extended period DOES tend to play a roll in such things, and I lived/worked under such stress for MANY years. Thankfully, a fellow veteran told me about a device called 'Alpha-Stim'. The VA Doc ordered one for me and it does help, but I now have a small arsenal of tools that help to keep the anxiety attacks at bay! I use prayer, Hemp CBD oil, Bach's Rescue Remedy and Dr. Berg's Adrenal Support. I watch very little news anymore. Instead, I watch the old comedy shows and movies from my childhood in the 50s and 60s. Animal videos are great, too. Anything that will make me smile, laugh and feel good will work. I need a good daily dose of all these things. You may want to do a search and read Norman Cousins' story. It's SO much better to laugh than to cry!! I pray that you find those things that work for you!!
