I think the idea of a Jovian multiplier you absolutely have to put down early is really interesting because it plays with drafting and warns people not to give you Jovian tags. Sort of similar to Water Import from Europa (if you ever in a million years have a good reason to play that card).

Yes, it is very interesting. Water Import is similar in that way (if you intend on using the ability), but it can also be played in the last gen just for the points. Jovian Biolab HAS to be played early and therefore I like it even more. More trade-off, more risk and generally more interesting.

Here is my view about these cards. Venusian Capital: The value of 2 power productions is 14 MC, so it totally costs you 16+3+14=33 MC to play this card. So you have to get at least 7 VP from this card to make it pay off. Even if you get 2 VP from the resources, you still need no less than 10 Venus tags. So it is not a good card. First Venusian Metropolis: A strong card if you can play it, but this card is very hard to play because we don’t need to raise Venus to end a game.I will not cut this card. Equatorial Skyscrapers: Can you trigger its effect more than once in a generation? If so, it may become an extra space fleet when you need it, and it may make it a good card. If you can only trigger it once per generation, it is about 3 power production. However, there are only about 1/4 of the cards have building tags and many of them are not so good, so it is a little hard to play a building tag to trigger its effect each generation, and it is much worse. The adaption is much better. Subcontractors: -2 building discount and drawing a card with earth tag or a building tag make it a good card, though it is hard to play it in the early game as it requires 2 cities. Using steel to pay for SP cities is very good if you have many steel and you have no way to use them, and it is very good for Mining Guild. The Golden Twins:Though you have to play it completely in cash, it is still a very good Jovian Multiplier with a discount effect. Jovian Biolab: It is an another Jovian multiplier. You have to play it in cash at least 4 gens before the game ends, and it requires 2 science tags. If the game ends in advance, those microbes don’t pay off.If you can use the science resources up, it is a very good card even if you don’t have microbes. If a game ends in gen 11, you have to play it no later than gen 7. In a game with more player, it ends earlier, which makes you have to play it earlier. In a 4p game, it may end in gen 7 even in gen 6, then you need to play it in gen 3 even gen 2, but you may not have chance to play it in such an early game. It is hard to know when the game will end 4 gens in advance. An unexpected GIA or Deimos Down may become a deadly hit on this card.

Equatorial Scyscrapers only allows you to trade for free, you still need a trade fleet available. So playing multiple building tags only grants the effect multiple times if you have more than one trade fleet!

Jovian Biolab works without any microbe card as one of the three exceptions of effects that can fizzle is gaining resources.

Good to know! So you can just remove the science resources and not place any microbes anywhere?

Subcontractors is just spacestation/venus station with a card instead of a point, which is much better early on when you want to play discounts anyway. Obviously easy choice with superterractor but anyone might as well keep it in gen 1 draft (if you can afford the 3 mc to do your play obv). It becomes worse faster than spacestation/venus as building tags lean much more into the prod side than space/venus tags, but i think it's good early enough.

Good early, yes, but hard to play due to the city restriction...
