I have no problem with my 30" Apple Cinema Display (2008) paired with my MacBook Pro M3 pro, using the club 3d-adapter. HDCP works also (so you may watch streaming services). I also got it to work ACD->apple-dual-dvi-minidisplayport-adapter->thunderbolt 2 hub->apple thunderbolt 2 to 3 adapter, but that was a lot of dongles...

The BIG question is, with that working over HDMI, can we finally get the ACD30 working with an old AppleTV3 (the one with the nice remote)? That would be a great way to put old Apple gear to use as an Airplay TV. Audio would have to go out via the unhelpful optical-only toslink jack Apple limited the ATV to, but such is life.

@icantgivecredit871

Some people were reporting even with M1 Macs that the setup prevented their Mac from sleeping. However, I wasn't actually aware that Apple Silicon Macs "sleep" in the traditional sense of the word. As far as I know, full-on "sleep" mode is no longer a thing (as of Apple Silicon) and instead the computer is more or less always idle and ready as opposed to actually sleeping. Do you know what, then, people were referring to?

Sadly, I tried all the adapters with my 30, but none worked. The Apple adapter did work with my old Intel Mac 2013, but none of the Silicon machines worked with the 30.

Thanks for figuring this out. I have a MBP m3 ordered and have two 30” cd’s I’d like to run side by side. Where in the chain would expect I’d join the signal? Would I need to have both ‘dongles’ from each monitor set up in a hdmi+usbc hubs?

Good solution! And nice videos. I have seen also the other ones on this monitor. What is your experience with the brightness and sharpness of these monitors? I bought (and sold) one, and the brightness was not that great. It took too much effort for my eyes to use it normally. Sharpness was also a bit worse than my dell 27 1440 monitor. cheers!

So happy to see this. I was thinking that I'd have to get an M2 Mac Studio (as the latest) to be able to still use the monitor, but it's good to see that the M3 is a possibility. I'm still thinking M2 because of it now going down in price ... and I'm hoping I'm correct in thinking that a Studio with M3 and your config will work. Anyway, I gotta do it soon. My 14-15 year tower is becoming obsolete. Thanks again!

Tried your solution and it is giving me an interlaced unusable scrolling image on my Cinema 30" (which works fine with my good ol Mac Pro 2010). I bought what you suggested and have it all plugged in the same as shown with the USB-A to usb A.. Does not work at all with the Yotomaster. I am on a brand new M3 Pro Max. Hoping I am missing something. Fingers crossed
@JohnnyMcPro
6 ай бұрын
The Yottamaster is meant to give you more ports back AFTER you use the HDMI to USB-C Converter. The Yottamaster won't work for the display. Make sure you follow the chain correctly. DVI from display > Club3D > HDMI to USB-C converter > then plug in HDMI into HDMI port on M3 Max, and the USB-A into the laptop directly (via USB-A to USB-C).

For some reason, the original Apple Dual-LInk Adapter no longer works for me (even on M1), so I just use the Club3D adapter for M1/2), and then I add the additional adapter I noted in this video for M3-based Macs.
