As a long-time owner of multiple new and vintage Porsches (4 911s (2 Turbos), 2 928s, Boxster S, etc, I can only say that the GT has far exceeded not only my expectations of the Maserati brand, but has also beaten the reliability of most of the best from Stuttgart. These are absolutely amazing automobiles, and the Pininfarina looks combined with the sounds of that 4.7 V8 are at the very pinnacle of all automobiles IMHO.

Surely the Mazza GT to get is the series one 3200GT with the boomerang rear lights. Just a lot nicer to look at, much more analogue, twin turbo V8 with a conventional auto or manual. And plenty of parts shared with other Fiat/Alfa products of the era so much less expensive to repair/replace. Plus they are now available for under $35k. But the series one is the only choice - the rear cluster on the S2 looks like a DIY restyle using bits off a 280ZX.

Yep, Porsche marketing has been spot on. The brand is stronger than ever. I like Porsche cars, just like all the fan boys, but I accept there are faults with all cars, particularly a new model release, including those from Stuttgart. 991 engine troubles anyone? Maserati got it horribly wrong on release, and the reputation on the same internet that criticises the 996, slaughters the Granturismo. Maserati were always going to struggle given the throttling back Ferrari made sure was going to happen to not damage the Ferrari brand when this generation Granturismo was designed and built. Maserati don't have the budgets afforded to Porsche on the back of the very clever marketing, and genre defining Cayenne. Ferrari made sure of that. Ferrari didn't kill Maserati, it wounded itself, but they sure crippled it further. Now under the new ownership in the wider group, it's going to die, seemingly chasing the EV crowd without a halo product to draw people in. Sadly, they are forced to kill off the very thing, the V8, that draws in buyers. Meanwhile, Porsche, with the cash flooding in from Cayenne sales, fixed their issues with the release of the 997.2 (and damaged themselves with 991.1 and 718 4 cylinder, but quickly rectified that), and goes from strength to strength, and kudos to them for doing so. Will be interesting to see what Porsche does from here, as they are at an all time high in terms of brand value. Fan boys relax. I don't hate Porsche.
