Another great video.. Hex tools, soldering iron (watch some youtube, its not that hard), ride height, and camber gauge.. You will see and learn from the others around you to know what else you need later. RC community is great and we all will help, you should too as it builds up the hobby. I take my wheels off between runs, it forces me to at minimum look at the car and find things that need attention. Run, marshal, put the battery on cycle, pull the wheels, blow off the car ( i carry a portable blower), wrench on whatever, check the camber then ride height.. repeat.. Sounds like a lot but it only takes a few minutes and then you are sitting around talking and waiting for the next round...

I have a weller plug-in-to-the-wall iron, I can't afford a nicer one, but I do clean the tip with a wire brush

What are the first things to buy when getting into rc racing? A car and tools? What about grease or oil

The car and any of the tools I listed in the video. Usually a hex set is the first thing you buy. It's the first thing I bought at least. You'll also want some spare shock fluid and diff fluid for setup changes

That dynamite starter tool set looks the same as the traxxas tool set, if they are anything to go by, then steer away from them. They are no better quality than the tool set that comes with traxxas cars, you will end up stripping the tools, rather then the screws, it's that bad.

Agreed. I had the set when I was just bashing with a lot less use than what racing requires. I got about a year out of it until it needed replaced. In a race atmosphere, that would be about 2 weekends. Go with the associated multi bit driver if your on a budget. $40 and I have about 4 years in the first one, I have 2 now and basically just use the bits for the electric screwdriver. I do love my dewault gyro driver....
