Usher comes from a generation of entertainers that practiced/trained, and worked since they were children, that produces a level of professionalism that you just don't see in new artists these days.

You are selling Usher very short. Usher's vocal skills are evident yet he's very discipline. Although he could, he doesn't overwhelm a song with "runs" unlike many of his male/female counterparts. I've notice for a long time that usually when a singer has the vocal prowess comparable to usher's, they can't refrain from inundating songs with "runs". Conversely, Usher understands placement and he never does anything that would detract from the music, as a result, you come away feeling like you've listened to a song as he displays just the right amount of vocal nuance and skill. His vocal prowess, versatility, consistency makes him one of the greatest singers in mainstream music, male or female.

Well said!!! Usher is intentional with his runs. He also feels what the music is doing and his voice is a perfect compliment to the band. He can release a whole of of his hits with new arrangement. This Tiny Desk was EXCEPTIONAL!!!!!

Vedo and Eric Bellinger aren't his brothers. He meant "brothas" in the colloquial sense. They are both artists. Eric Bellinger is along with Luke James probably the most gifted black male singer of this generation and he has quite a catalog going back about a decade. There were a ton of incredible black male vocalists in the 80s and 90s, but Usher was a cut above as a full-bodied artist. Would love to see you explore more male voices on this channel

people tend to forget usher was always a vocalist first, won star search at 13, just an overall great singer & performer.
