I shoot a long range match with a Barrett MK22. Big shoutout to Proof Research for the 6mm Creedmoor barrel and to Stike without warning for their tuner muzzle brake.
Congrats on 1 and 2 places you guys!! Your guidance to Rick and all his dedication over the past few years has started paying off in!!

Great result for both of you at what looks like a beautiful part of the country. And special congratulations to Rick - watching his progress from those first videos when you initially introduced him to precision shooting, to now where he's performing so well, I think you must be very proud. It's a testament to your ability as a teacher and Rick's capacity to learn and improve.

I wonder if that beautiful range started or gained prominence after 2001, looks ideal to develop hilltop long range shooting as well as tricky downslope shots out to 500m in a gusty valley, then again I'm sure operators from different branches would surely have even bigger government ranges to work from like White Sands.

OK off-topic if I need a muzzle brake for a 308 rifle can I purchase a muzzle brake for a 338 Cal or a 30 Cal to work on 9308 or do I need a specific 308 muzzle brake? I’m a little slow that’s why I’m asking a professional this simple question!
@XRING
Жыл бұрын
Hey Qui Man. I appreciate the question. You just need a .30 cal muzzle brake. If it’s for PRS then go with something like the APA Fat Bastard, MPA , Area 419 or something like that to really help with the recoil. You could do a .338 brake but it’s not needed at all.

How would you compare the mk22 to an AI AXSR for PRS?
@XRING
Жыл бұрын
There are definitely better tools for a straight PRS match. I think they would be pretty even in comparison.
@ForceRecon112
Жыл бұрын
@@XRING The reason I ask is because I shoot both PRS and ELR as well as various long range field matches but I am one of those do more with less(as in number, not quality) kind of guy. So the idea of the MRAD/AXSR, being able to run short and long action cartridges in the same rifle intrigued me. I shoot both for fun more than anything. I know a purpose built rifle for both PRS and ELR would be superior.
@XRING
Жыл бұрын
I understand completely! Well, as much as I really like the AI’s. The Barrett is a solid platform and the system just plain works. It does have a very unique bolt feel and is easier to manipulate in my opinion.

.....have to say, would NEVER own a barrel that doesn't shoot bc a tuner is merely a band-aid, not to mention another gadget that requires maintenance/checking, as to not loosen,cleaning etc.,........NO Thanks on the tuner, but, maybe??ok for a gamer rifle with a barrel that needs help...?...Thanks fer sharing the the great video.

Well, PRS has a “tactical” division, so why not shoot something like this. Quite a few active duty guys at my last match shooting custom actions in AI chassis in .308. Definitely appropriate for the “tactical” division.

Very true. This match didn’t have a tactical division. Plus, I really really wanted to try this rifle out in 6 creed.

@@XRING Thanks for the reply. One question: Why opt for a carbon fiber barrel if balance is more of a concern than overall weight? I believe I would have opted for an all stainless Proof barrel instead for better balance, extra weight, and saved some money at the same time. Just curious as to why you chose carbon fiber for this application.
@XRING
2 жыл бұрын
No problem! So, to answer your question I would have definitely opted for a steel barrel for this specific application. However, for a ruck style match the carbon definitely sheds some weight. Proof was able to get me the first thing they had available and I am extremely satisfied with the accuracy and the barrel itself.
@vettepilot427
2 жыл бұрын
@@XRING Good enough. For a ruck match, you DEFINITELY want that weight off. I just assumed that based on the title of the video and the comments about balance that this would be intended primarily for PRS. Glad to see more content on this rifle platform. Most of what I’ve seen has been all over the board concerning accuracy, and it’s been difficult to get the straight take. Thanks!!
