There are a lot of factors that go into deciding whether an ABA school or home ABA program is best for the child. While a school for autism may be better for those parents who are working full-time, we need to look at how safety, independence and happiness impacts the child. Is the child safe enough to go to an ABA school? Or does the child have severe problem behaviors and wandering issues that would make home ABA safer for them? This is one key factor in deciding on an autism school.
But even when you’ve decided to go with ABA therapy at school, how do you know if a center might be right for you and your child? School for children with autism can vary dramatically. I remember going into one school where there was a ton of positive energy going around, and another where the direct opposite was happening. So even if you’ve decided to settle on an autism classroom environment, you’ll need to visit, observe and make sure that the environment is a positive one.
