NOT SURE WHY YOU HAVE TO CALIBRATE DISPERSION WHEEL FOR EACH SAMPLE - ANY PDF'S OR WEBSITES TO EXPLAIN IT BETTER ? NICE VIDEO EXPLAINS SOME OF THE BASICS ALSO WHAT IS GOOD WAY TO TEST RI OF IRREGULAR SHAPED GEMS OR STONES ? CAN A MICROSCOPE BE TURNED INTO A REFRACTOMETER ?

What does it mean that reading of refractive index is made at first from dark area to the bright area and then from bright area to the dark area. How to realize these "passages"? I mean which buttons, screws and other pieces are used for these operations? I have in my notebook two values From dark area to bright area the value is 1.337. From bright area to the dark area the value is 1.3375. How were these obtained? Thank you!

I have learned about refractometer in high school but not in physics. The refractometer that was used it was binocular but I don't know which model. Thank you
