Just received my Penrose, very useful as I didn't know how or where to update the firmware

I have downloaded the Audeze HQ app to my Mac but on my version I don't see the profile button on the top right of the screen as per the video not does my Penrose connect to the app - grateful for any guidance, am not impressed with the microphone and hoping this will solve it or will send it back, the mic is better on the Arctis Pro as far as I can make out!

The mac app is not updated yet. Only the windows app supports Penrose. Android app should release soon followed by mac support.

@@AudezeHQ Thanks appreciate the update, when will you have the Mac version so I can do the update? The microphone is sub par vs the advertised quality

@@Pj-do1rh silly question but have you got it facing the right way towards you? At the base of the connecter there is a smooth part of the mic jack , this part indicates the right side of the mic that should be facing you as with the pop filter on you can't see what way round it is. If you haven't updated to 1.5 firmware already that improves the mic quality alot.

@@ThePaulg123 many thanks, not a silly question at all:) however, I have checked and I do have the mic set up in the right direction. I only have a Mac so it seems I will need to wait for the Mac app to be updated for me to get the firmware 1.5 update, I hope that is not too long...

@@Pj-do1rh you end up keeping them? Did the update help? I just got a pair but have yet to test them out. Currently rocking a Razer black shark v2 pro and an Arctis pro with gamedac , so hopefully I’m impressed

Just got my penrose today. I'm pretty happy with it overall. Although, I noticed that when using the software, if I add to any of the lower frequency bands that the overall sound gets quieter. Is this intentional, or just an accidental oversight?

This is the automatic gain control kicking in to ensure it doesn't clip. You can EQ and then adjust the volume higher.

@@AudezeHQ I see. Thank you for that information. Are there any plans to adjust automatically so that the user doesn't have to mess with the volume after changing the frequency? Referring the solution itself, even doing that, I noticed that the overall sound ceiling is lowered. If I max it out with a lower frequency boosted, then drop the frequency back to normal, the headset will get louder. While this is effectively a non issue since I would never listen to anything on max, I do think it would be a good idea to put this information somewhere in a FAQ or the program to help avoid confusion. Thank you for your quick reply. I appreciate it.

@@UmbraFaux The headset allows you to mix BT audio and Wireless radio. So the audio pipeline is complicated. So we are very cautious and want to avoid clipping.

Why don’t I have the Firmware button?? I have a settings tab in the space and it only shows me the firmware installed doesn’t give an option to update firmware

If the Update Firmware button is not on the screen (and you're on Windows, Mac or Android), then you have the latest firmware.

Bug noticed at 0:53 after it says update complete why has it not refreshed the current firmware version display at the top left panel and why is it still saying update available.

My audeze Penrose no longer turn on and the computer does not detect them after charging and using it again they stopped turning on, and I have only had them for 3 months I bought them for Christmas they arrived on December 24, 2021 and on March 10 2022 they no longer turn on

cabn i only tinker with sound profiles whilst my Penrose is connected? Can i not change profiles etc wirelessly?

With windows app currently, you can only modify it with USB-C. Android app should be released shortly. We will also enable wireless control (2.4 Ghz) in future.

Just got my headset last night, updated first thing. Using with PS5 I was experiencing some crackling, is this 2.4ghz interference? Tested this morning with the phone, Bluetooth and Spotify and sounded awesome, no crackling.

Hmmm. Have you tried plugging it into the other usb pots on the PS5?

@@AudezeHQ I switched from the back port to the front USB port when I first heard it, I thought it helped but maybe not as I'm testing it right now just by playing the PS5 home screen music, there is crackling only when sound is playing when I turn home screen music off the crackling stops. This seems to be a hotspot for it as when I'm just hearing ambient noise in-game the crackling doesn't occur. Could this be a hardware issue? I'm sorry maybe I should open a support ticket. I understand this isn't really the place, I'm really impressed with the headset overall. Edit: I just tried with AUX into controller and there's no crackling, I'll try minimize 2.4ghz interference or reset the dongle.

I play on the xbox series x and pc. On PC, WIRELESS and AUX are great BUT on the Xbox series x, I sound muffled when using the dongle. it's way better in aux for the mic quality... have you any tips or informations about this issue?

what does the slider do for the one that is set at 42% and is labelled as "mic"?

That slider adjusts the mic gain (which is the same as the mic wheel on the headphones)

Kind of underwhelmed by the mic on the Xbox Series X. Even with the mic monitoring turned up I can barely hear myself on both aux and wirelessly.

I cant even download the app on windows, it uses google drive for some reason and when i press ”download” in google drive it tries to open a new webbpage and then i get the error message ”webbpage failed to redirect correctly”. I also cant connect the headset via bluetooth to my samsung phone yet it works on my iphone but as you all know the HQ app cant be used on IOS....

Can you try a different browser? I have some issues with google drive not downloading on opera for example, but Brave works just fine.

@@AudezeHQ I have tried firefox/google chrome and internet explorer and same issue on all 3. Im also having some weird hissing/whistling noises in the left earcup. Any idea what could cause that?

@@AudezeHQ I have not purchased it. 400 is a lot to spend with testing. I have listened to several videos and they have all had the same result. I was really hoping that this mic would be as good as the Virtuoso. I needed a new headset

@@Ozmodan965 Were they using the aux input? All headsets on the market use a similar chip that is limited at 6.5khz. There are various strategies for dealing with us, we've implemented one recently which quite improves the sound. I would recommend checking the samples on our website, linked below. So I have the Penrose since today and it is totally quiet compared to my Astro a50. is there still an update or can you adjust something? already have the game sound at 100 percent.

Have you updated it? There was a tweak we made that changed how it set volume, so if you haven't updated the firmware, do try that. It should get louder than youi'd ever want to listen.

hey Firmware was up to date. I think I found the error, I had the bass at + 6 DB and as I understood it, it regulates the volume at over +3 DB so that no distortion occurs at maximum volume. now I have the bass on +3 and everything is fine!

@@hansrichter2409 The best way to avoid clipping and adjust the volume is to set the EQ first and then you can increase the volume using the volume wheel on the Penrose.
