I really enjoyed this one because a billiard is my favorite shot in pool. I always try to promote these shots amongst my pool friends, reminding them that the name "pocket billiards" is no linguistic accident.

I am spending this week studying Carom shots. I am a 4, but am flipping like a fish back and forth from a 3. Watching vids like this are really helping me to "see" more options on the table because I do not want to flip back again. I love your teaching style. You are clear and provide several different examples to hammer the lesson home. And this is not my first time watching your vids! I am having a ball on both of my APA League Teams right now!

Awesome video Bryan. During one of my training days, my partner & I did a half day of nothing but carom shots. The 2nd half of the day we spent playing an all carom game where you had to call every carom regardless if you were trying to get a ball in or just making the correct contact between balls. A good contact was worth 1 point & 2 points if you made a shot unto a pocket. We played this at our local PH & by the end of a couple games, we had a small audience. Anyway... This video just reminded me of that. Thought I'd share. Be well, Al-Fu

Great video. Use these shots quite often. Me and a pool buddy practice these by racking the balls putting the Cue ball on the top spot of the rack and breaking with a object ball and making all the balls off the cue ball. Got me out of a lot of jams. quinton Odonnell

Great info!!! I noticed you used a LOT of outside spin on that large angle 5 ball shot (last example): Do you advise always using that much spin on more challenging angles, or was that for cue ball positioning? Thanks for these gems of knowledge!

I naturally use outside on those shots, but it did also helped for the position on the six.

I would like to see you help us with aiming on Karam shots in the middle of the table or long more long distance shots. I know those aren’t the shots you look for first but sometimes you have no choice and I have a difficult time figuring out when I’m Kerman object ball off object ball how to aim to make the hit on the second ball

I have never heard the term but trust me when I say, you can hear all kinds of things when it comes to pool. There are even expressions that people throw around that are simply stupid but are treated like the gospel. So it could be a thing where you are located that might not show up anywhere else. thanks for watching and sorry I could not be more help.

Do you find it plausible to carom an object ball both "off of" OR "through" that same ball? I think I read Robert Byrne showing how to compute such a carom when the second object ball is actually blocking the path of the carom ball to the pocket. I read that, but it seems in practice that so much speed is subtracted that the carom ball has to be pretty close to the pocket.... I think his diagram involved having the cue ball at one corner of a rectangle (or parallelogram) and the second carom ball at the opposite corner. You had to actually compute how to knock the first carom ball out of the way and get the cue ball to proceed to the second carom ball, or other target.

Yes. I do this often when pockets are blocked but it is difficult to teach. Most of these shots involve putting draw on the cb in effect adding top spin to the ob and aiding it into the pocket after making contact with the blocking ball. Thanks for watching Ray
