Great episode, Don. I’ve had Open AI/ChatGPT on my phone and never bothered to use it. This episode motivates me to tinker with the thing! Thanks, Lars Klassen, Quito

Absolutely right Don 🤗, about still learning after retirement. I'm retired now, and I do everything I can to learn something new everyday. I don't want my brain to turn to mush. I wouldn't be able to carry on an intelligent conversation with anyone, if I don't know what's going on in the world.

Listening but had to comment as I listen. ChatGPT is great. Its Large Language Model allows a dialogue for the user to expand his or her knowledge base by asking questions or entering prompts that allow the machine to provide requested info.

I am a senior by definition. 73. But as healthy as I was at 50. I may effectively live another 25 years and having the POTENTIAL of expanding myself? We as seniors need to get up, get busy, stay active. HAVE to or we die !!! AI will HELP if you have the GUTS to expand your world. FEAR is your enemy. Do it.

@@DonShader I cannot change anyone. But I can choose to experience everything I can to learn and become more. My need for information does not diminish with age and we NOW have tools that can make ANYONE into a GENIUS if they have HALF a brain and a few GUTS. I am proof of that. I remain hungry for life.

@@DonShader With KZitem, ChatGBT and other AI we can do anything or be anything. I read a book in late 70's titled "The Greening of America". It stated we would get to a point where technology would let us live anywhere and have our chosen careers. We could choose to be a professional surfer or anything we could teach ourselves to do. We are there. You have made yourself into a producer, videographer, popular social creator. You are proving that book I read as being prophetic. Some give up and don't. You get up and DO !!!

Don, this is spot on. I’m so frustrated with my boomer family members who refuse to learn anything about technology. Basic things, like how to open a picture sent by text. Whether it’s AI, or a new skill, or a new adventure, I have a life to live, and I intend to live it!

WOW! Since I’m windy I can’t say just WOW! This information blows me away. A few years ago someone mentioned AI and I asked “Do you mean artificial inseminination?” He laughed and said “No, artificial intelligence.” Man, did I feel like a total ignoramus! Thanks to you, I won’t be ignorant of what CHATGPT is when asked. As soon as I finish this I’m going to look this up and start using it. Thanks for enlightening this old codger and keep up the good work! PS - For what it’s worth, I feel the grumpy facade you portray is just that: A facade. Why? Because I don’t think people like Stella or your other friends would have anything to do with you if you were truly a grumpy old a-hole. I’m looking forward to your next podcast.

Technology has certainly come a loooooong way for us baby boomers. Heck, when I was young, having a remote for your TV meant you had children at home who could operate the channel selector, the volume control, and the on/off knob......

It would narrow, not broaden, our notion of companionship or meaningful conversation to include AI, useful though it is. No sermons on open eyes from an industry as myopic as tech. Its moguls do know enough about human interaction to ban iPads in their kids’ private schools. Children have the excuse, I suppose, that they are still developing, but look at most adults and try to convince yourself they’ve completed development. Staring at phones as they sit together.
