HELP! For some reason we're not getting Audio OUTPUT device. We just get Audio Device - So we can't route our 32 Channels from the X32 Into Ableton and OUT into a different Interface. Can someone help us? We're using a the behringer x32, windows 11, ableton, and the Dante card (On the x32). Thanks

When im setting up by Ableton live 11, i cant pick "Input and Output devices." Theyre bundled, and i wanna be able to grab 32 Channels from my Behringer x32, and Output 2 (L/R) to a Focus Rite, or Just headphones. Any insight?!

Been running a similar setup, Suite 11 on a Macbook M3 pro. However Ableton doesn't send any audio to the network. Everything is set up ok. All other Dante machines receive and transmit, other programs like logic work just fine on the laptop and do transmit audio. Last time i got Ableton to work after also assigning an input source in the setup (event tho we dont use any inputs) In Dante all machines are clock syncing, however this feels like a clock related issue in the computer, but cant quite grasp it. Any ideas??

What if I wanted to receive input via DVS to my DAW, but sent output from the DAW to an external audio interface that is NOT Dante enabled? I am unable to choose DVS as input and my audio device as output. When I do, I get no audio. I have a Dante device (Focusrite AM2) that will work, but due to other factors we would like to use an interface that is not Dante enabled. I have also tried setting up and using an aggregate device, but that isn't working. Do you have any suggestions?

You can use Dante as input and another interface as output. I’m thankful Ableton let’s you do that!

I Will. Me and a friend want to do collaborative work using two Macs with Ableton Live 12 simultaneously playing loops etc routing from one machine into the other and out into a system using AVIO adaptor. Looks like the latest Sonoma OS doesn't allow to create ad-hoc networks like old systems so using Link is not an option anymore. So we are asking ourselves if it's possible to connect using an ethernet cable to route one Ableton Live from one machine into the Ableton Live of the second machine and out to the main sound system. Any ideas? Thanks.

Could I Just have a set up like: Ableton Live on a Mac, Ethernet cable into a Dante mixer, and route Inside Ableton all the physical sources plugged to the mixer? ( this to record and avoid buying a super crazy soundcard) Does it make sense and would this work?

Hey! Great video. Although I was wondering, if the console is at the sound board in the back and I wanted to run Ableton from the stage, how do I do that? I noticed you mentioned Network switch but does that involve complex configuration? Do I need an IT guy or just simple enough to do it myself?
@mauricesaunders5460

Depending on the length of the cable run, if you have no other Dante devices you can actually run an ethernet cable from your Ableton computer directly to the Dante card in the sound console. So since it seems that you have nothing else in your workflow with Dante at the moment, so you could possibly go that route. Now if you want to add other Dante devices in the mix, this is when you would use a network switch, preferably one without EEE (Energy Efficient Ethernet) which would potentially cause dropouts time to time. If you're buying an unmanaged switch be sure that it DOESN'T have this function, and if you buy a managed switch be sure that you have the ability to turn it off on all the ports. Any other questions feel free to reply, I'll give you all the little knowledge that I have.

Hey! So I setup my church's Ableton sessions for backtracks every Sunday. We run Ableton off an iMac next to the sound board. However I create the sessions on my Windows laptop. My laptop has serious specs, Intel 8750h 6 core processor, GTX 1070, however when I set up DVS as my output in preferences, Ableton proceeds to lag behind. specifically when I go to change the output on a track, it takes 4-5 seconds before "Ext. Out" shows up, and then once I click channel 4 or whatever, it takes another 4-5 seconds before it shows up. Just really laggy. This doesnt occur on MacOS when I change outputs on the iMac. Just wondering if this is something youve experienced, or anything you can think of that would fix my problem.

Hi Noah! It sounds like there’s an issue with DVS and possibly a driver on your PC. Have you reached out to audinate to see if they have any info for you? I haven’t experienced a delay like that on my Mac using DVS.

Thanks for this video. It got me really started on the solution. What network switch(es) do you use or recommend please? Manage or unmanaged in either case.

I have two cheap (sub $60) switches I use in the studio. I've found almost anything you can pick up at a Best Buy works great for simple MIDI routing. For Dante related things, I would consult with the installer and someone who is Dante certified to make sure you get a good quality managed switch that integrates into your current system.

Sorry a really stupid question and everyone please feel free to answer: Everyone points out that the latency of Dante is super-low. But, how about when it does the round-trip into your computer and then out again? You breifly mentioned buffer size in the video and maybe it's just my lack of understanding but does Dante in any way reduce round trip-latency (RTL)? And, does Dante make regular audio interfaces obsolete? Like, would I get a lower RTL with Dante than if I had an expensive internal RME PCIe card? I just don't get it :D
@fromstudiotostage
Жыл бұрын
dante is essentially zero latency. It depends on your settings, but you'll likely not experience or tell any latency if it's configured properly
@vikingsofvintageaudio7470

@@fromstudiotostage Thanks! What I don't understand - do you mean that the round trip latency through the computer is almost zero? Or that the Dante associated stuff has almost zero latency? I mean, it feels like there should still be the DAW-specific latency added right?

Nick-It depends slightly on how you’re planning on connecting your console to Ableton. I’d recommend via Dante if you can and then just route via Controller to your computer
