Же is really common word in Russian (according to one source, it's the 34th most frequently used word in the Russian National Corpus!) - but it can be tricky for learners to get a sense of the subtle nuances it can bring. In this video we'll look at how you can use же to add emphasis, express contrasts, feelings like impatience or urgency, and similarity or identity.
We'll use examples from the Russian National Corpus, as well as the classic comedy Ирония судьбы (Мосфильм 1976) and Pushkin's Евгений Онегин.
