BTW, I recommend 4-way SLI Titan X's OC'd and water cooled, for the best gaming experience at 4K or higher. These cards will reach 100% scaling at resolutions such as 4K, 5K, 7K, 8K, and even 10K. I've been using my old Toshiba 37" LCD as one for about 6 years, it's not the most recent model (about 9 years old), still a 1080p display (originally for my PS3) and other than the built in digital tuner going kaput after a year it's still working, yes there is a 1 1/2 inch black spot in the corner of the display but I adjust the display to compensate. It does what I want and really don't need a 4k system, yet........ I'm only using a 750Ti as it is and yes it is an old screen but until it goes kaboom properly I'll keep it going. I do notice a bit of screen burn (or whatever the LCD screens suffer from) but it's nothing really distracting. But I'd still love something like your own set up

+Barnacules Nerdgasm NVIDIA only support 2 way SLI. That means they only code there drivers to utilise 2 1080s. If a program, say Firestrike, is coded with it's own algorithms then all 3/4 1080s will be utilised. It's not that it doesn't work, it's that the official 1st party drivers aren't written to support 3/4 way SLI because of the past problems with it.

Awesome. I've been on a 65 inch LG 3D 4K TV as monitor for almost 3 years. Still love it. I finally picked up a new TV 43" 4K LG TV for my old gaming box, to use as productivity machine. You covered all the important parts! Nice job. Wish I had seen it sooner. I'd like to mention that you also need a very good (not most expensive) HDMI 2.0 cable. I bought a few different 15Ft ones, before I found one that worked flawlessly (Amazon Basics HDMI 2.0, was the winner). I wish TV manufacturers gave better specs (input lag).. I mean, it makes sense to, even for them!?

I know this is an older video, but I happened to go through this same exact "dilemma" about 4-6 weeks before this video was posted. All I have to say is.... I have NO IDEA why people are so keen to disable the interpolation, etc. on their 4k TVs when using them for gaming. If you do SOLID research beforehand, you can find TVs that have completely acceptable (and nowadays even good to great) input lag with all bells and whistles enabled (by which I mainly mean the Interpolation, although I personally find the "reality creation" on the Sony TVs pretty amazing as well at times). But besides that.... the fact that you talk about it like it's no big deal is just crazy. On every specific Sony/Samsung 4K tv that both myself and my brother have purchased for gaming, not only does the interpolation, etc. make the experience way, WAY better, but the input lag is perfectly acceptable. And we (well, at least my brother) is just about the biggest "input lag nerd/nazi" ever. He's literally constantly bringing it up as a subject. (I'm just a former HIGHLY competitive PC gamer). But neither of us can understand why you would want to buy a TV like this and not enable those features for gaming, unless you don't have the money for the mid-to-higher-end models, in which case you may need to reconsider the entire thing because of the $$ PC hardware requirements (even 3.5 years after this video was made...). I'm not saying everyone will find that it makes THAT much of a difference for them (which, fwiw, is usually like playing your games at 4k/90fps instead of 4k/60fps....for "free"....). I just feel like you're doing some folks a disservice by making it sound like it's not worth it and that going right into Game Mode (or as I like to say, "Lame Mode"...get it? ...haha...) is absolutely "the #1 first thing you should do once you hook it up". Do your RTINGS, Digital Foundry, AV forum research correctly before making the jump, people! (Most important thing for me is that it's actually NATIVE 120hz - for my brother it's sub-80ms response outside of game mode). After all, almost everyone who's buying a large screen 4k TV for a PC monitor is also going to do at least SOME (or most likely, quite a bit of) movie watching as well...

In 2016 you gotta have either Gsync or Freesync, once you have it you won't want to go by without it. Stutter free, tarring free and lag free gaming FTW.

i need scaling even on my 27" 1080p screen, i probably wouldn't need it if i sat really close to it but then the limits of 1080 would kick in, so i'm definitely looking into a 50-54" 4K TV as a 2nd monitor, even if it's just for content consumption.

YES..... Keep sharing these videos. Monitor manufacturers need to start competing with TV manufacturers.... I know for a fact there is absolutely no reason why a 34 inch computer monitor with gsync/high refresh rates should cost 1,000 dollars outside of being the only one to exist. Until monitor manufacturers exhaust all tech , there's always going to be a monitor that has something the rest don't. Which means insanely high price tags. What I'm trying to say is.... It's not like monitor manufacturers are going to go bankrupt selling that same 34inch gaming monitor for something along the lines of "350 dollars" vs the 1,100 they're currently asking.

Thank you for all of this info Barnacules, I'm likely to do this setup. However, I'm going to be doing it in a standing desk format. My back really starts to hurt if I sit for very long and I like to move around a lot. Have you tried doing this in a standing desk?

Jerry, Love the video. Great Stuff. i plan to call EVGA Tech Support in the AM to confirm but here's the deal. First my 3 Samsung 55" 4K QN55Q60 meet and or exceed your 50" specs. I have confirmed HDMI 2.0 compliant Cables. All three are connected to a RTX 2080 Ti EVGA KINGPIN Hybrid 11 GB GPU with 1-HDMI, 1 Display Port, 2 Mini-Display Ports and a Type C (which actually produces a video output) but only a max output of 4 for the card. The only port I can get 3840 x 2160 at 60hz is the HDMI. According to Micro Center, who sold me adapters for the Mini DP to HDMI and DP to HDMI ports, they are 4K compatible BUT I can only get 30Hzs out of the the DP ports. My reason for calling EVGA is to confirm all the ports support 4K at 60hz and if so, find the correct adapters. Would you agree the issue is the adapters? Any suggestions from you and or others who have experienced similar issues, please advise. Thanks.

Have you done any research in 2018 on models with the equivalent value and modern specs? Those TVs aren't being sold anymore. Thanks!

What about burn in? I noticed your desktop was showing on the screens for a while. Is there something special to look for so you don't get the burn in?
