This was so helpful! Almost went and bought the diso + not knowing I could invert the IRs for free! Thank you so much man! Truly a lifesaver 😎

You got it! But...I will say, don't let this discourage you from snagging the DISO! It really does have a positive effect on your tone 🤙🏼

Super helpful! Have you experienced phase issues with the TF Prosonic captures in particular?
@thetoneshepherd

Here's what my tests revealed: In phase with each other: Princeton AC30 Benson JMI AC30 In phase with each other: DC30 Prosonic But the JMI, even though it's in phase with the others in that group, sounds best with the Benson. The other two pairings seemed perhaps slightly out of phase but still usable.

@@thetoneshepherd I believe it’s out of phase with the rest of the amps. Is there any way to fix this on the pedal?

Are we talking about the ToneX captures or with IRs? Like, if I want to run dual ToneX with TF Prosonic and AC30 or Benso, do I need to flip polarity on one of them?@@thetoneshepherd

Not on the pedal. Only when using IRs and using the method I described. Also, see my previous comment--I edited it for a more complete list of which captures are in phase with each other.

@Eivindbh I'm talking about stock TF captures. The Princeton, AC30, Benson and JMI are all in phase with each other. The DC30 and Prosonic are in phase with each other but out of phase with the first list. If pairing the AC30 and the DC30, you'll need to reverse the polarity of one of them and the only way to do this is via an IR with the method I describe here.

thank you! if we bought tone factor presets do we need to buy those xrirs too?

In my opinion, no. The XRIRs are best suited for other digital platforms at the moment. However, if Tone Factor decides to re-capture their amps and separate the head from the cab in the captures, then perhaps that would be the right time/place to use the XRIRs.

Sorry for the dumb question. Does it matter which amp I pair with the XR IRs? I feel like the XR IRs aren’t at their full potential unless I match with the exact amp used in the capture.

Not a dumb question! I honestly don't think there's a "right" and "wrong" way to use the XRIRs in this regard. These are not "Tone Matched" IRs so the particular amp they're paired with matters less. These, rather, are impulse responses of the cabinet/speaker/microphone only so you can definitely mix and match the amps. That being said, I think the most "natural" tone will be achieved when pairing a similar amp with a similar IR. But these kinds of rules are meant to be broken!

I must have an updated version of the ToneX software because I don't have a Player tab and everything looks a little different than yours. Also, my guitar sounds extremely small compared to yours when playing through these. I have a Gretsch Duo Jet with Lollartrons and, while I know it will sound different, I'm thinking I'm doing something wrong here. Any ideas? I have the Apollo Twin X as well and I'm running straight into the Hi-Z input.

Yes, the ToneX software has been updated so it won’t match this unfortunately. The only thing I could think of regarding the tone is that your Cab/IR setting isn’t quite right. Are you experimenting with swapping IRs around?
@seanbatterberry

@@thetoneshepherd I did try a couple different IRs, but even when I'm just on the Tone Model it sounds weak comparatively. My American Ultra Tele is the same way. It's just weak, lacks body and power. Your guitar and the audio demo guitars all just have much more body and power behind them. I have the input set to 8.5 like suggested. I just feel like I'm missing something. I'm new to ToneX and to the Apollo Twin X so it's very possible I'm just not doing something correctly. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

How's the input level on the ToneX software? That could have a lot to do with it!

Is there big difference between 1 tonex vs 2 in stereo?

The biggest difference is the ability to run stereo wet effects in front of the amps, which I prefer by a long shot.

I have a second ToneX on the way. In the meantime I've been toying around with two ToneX VST running while testing out various Tone Factor, Tone Junkie, Worship Tutorials captures. I've been running a UA Dream 65 with everything slamming in front of it and really love it how it sounds. Using the Tone Factor drive captures with other drive pedals...ToneX Trio? 🤔 😂
