Using OMPHobby protocol in OpenTX is now possible thanks to the latest stable version of multi-module firmware. I'll show you how to easily update the firmware in your OpenTX radio / transmitter with an internal or external multi protocol module.
Thanks to Multi-Module.org's website download tools, and the newer versions of firmware already installed in the latest OpenTX radios and multi modules, the firmware updating process of multi-protocol modules is now very simple. Nothing like it used to be with special drivers or even hardware needed. All you'll need is your OpenTX radio, a computer with an internet connection, and a few minutes of your time.
Important Note:
I'm using pitch curves on channel 3 which is totally optional and up to you. I do this specifically to cater the collective ranges to my liking. If you just use a single linear output on channel 3 with no pitch curves programmed in, the OMP flight controller will set a default -3 to +12 degrees of collective in the low head speed mode & about +/-12 degrees of collective in the mid and high speed modes. Again, this is ONLY when paired with the internal OMP receiver. This is done so the simple non computerized OMP radio that has no programable pitch curves can still limit the collective range to a typical/conventional "normal flight" range in the low head speed mode along with a full -12 to +12 range in both higher head speed modes. If you are okay with those "factory default" collective ranges, feel free to omit setting up any pitch curves and just use a linear output for channel 3.
