You have a great way of explaining everything in Logic! When I started in this business as an in-house songwriter for a record company, I used a Fostex X-15 4 track cassette tape recorder, and never had to worry about production when selling the song. NOW my head explodes all the time, trying to get better at even production basics, so I can stay relevant in the songwriting world. I am a die- hard Logic user, and your tutorials make it that much easier. Thank you, and keep up the good work! :)

Dude... my freakin Mind exploded. I was like that meme... I never knew that there are like so many saturation types in Logic. I will save every one of these plugins only as a saturation mode. OMG I am so EXCITED xD... btw... can you make a video on the exciter as a special type of saturator??? I think of it as parallel saturation... Especially the Input Gain because you can not adjust it and putting several exciters with different settings in serial.... Great work! Love this channel! Cheers :)

It's great to see someone using stock plugins, but you are wrong about the distortion in the Logic Compressor. It sounds the same with all the different compressor models. You can try this by using two different ones in parallel and flip the polarity on one. They completely cancel out.

Man, I have been teaching myself MixBus and watching LUNA tutorials so that I can track in Logic and mix in another DAW for "that sound". Your enthusiasm for Logic and these tutorials are exactly what I need to keep me from wandering off when I don't necessarily have to. I think a lot of us get spooked into believing that the "real" sound of a good mix can only happen with this DAW or that plugin, or some SSL or Neve wannabe - when in the end, every single one of these are emulations on a digital platform (our computers). I've been thinking about setting up a Logic template that has some channel strips with these plugins at the ready, as well as some busses for the same purpose. And then I run across this video! Thanks for what you do - awesome!
Due to £ reasons, I'm using a pair of old PC speakers, I even noticed the difference when you turned on the plugins

@@LameFaun If you use a reference track to guide your mix, you can have that go straight to the Stereo Out and NOT be affected by any of the plug-ins you set up on the Submix for YOUR mix. So your mix is as you want it and the reference track stays clean.

Dunno if this will help -- I have a 2012 Macbook, which allows me to upgrade the RAM and hard drive (I can open the bottom cover and swap out those parts very easily). When I updated the OS from whatever 2012 OS I had to Mojave, my laptop was going extremely slow to the point of being unusable (I'm talking load times of >10 minutes for any application I tried to open). I've upgraded the RAM from 4GB to 16GB, and that helped a ton. I'm able to use Logic Pro just like normal and rarely have issues. Only issue now is the hard drive, which I need to upgrade to an SSD in order to increase initial app load speeds and some other stuff (just an optimization at this point, since it's usable anyway). Not sure if parts are self-replaceable in your 2015 Macbook, but that's a major consideration depending on whatever current hardware you have (RAM and hard drive).

You need better headphones/speakers. Also you need to know what to look out for. You can definitely hear an added layer of "hair" which is very low-level distortion fuzz. The "smooth" EQ has more fat low-mid fuzz which hides better (a good thing) but it's easy to hear if you overdo it. You can also hear some squashing and tonal changing of the transients.
