Thanks for the video, it's a great help for us begginers on this. I have one question: when you go through the pulleys ratios in 3:00, you mention 16 and 40 teeth which gives 3.75 ratio. I was under the impression that the ratio is 40/16=2.5. Am I wrong?

i have celestron astromaster 130eq mount, which comes with german CG-3 mount type, can you help me with the parameters? particularly on GR1 and GR2, i have nema17stepper motor 200 steps 32microsteps. but i am not sure about GR1 and GR2,

I am not familiar with the mount's specifications. Please ask on the OnStep group if someone is using it.

What about the GRL2 if you use a harmonic drive
@khalid_ba

If you only have one gear reduction, you can put GR2 as 1. But it is best if you ask on the Onstep group and see what others who have a harmonic drive say.

Thanks a lot for this video explanation Khalid.. But now the spreadsheet and the configuration page has some changes.

Yes. But still, the most important part (the two lines of cells for each axis, is what matters, and has to be filled the same way. It is really about determining what microstepping you should use. Once you know that, you can use the Online Configuration Generator which will generate a usable configuration for you.

@@khalid_ba One thing I don't understand much is the: SLEW_RATE_BASE_DESIRED.
@khalid_ba

@@oalithgow This is your slewing speed in degrees per second. It is BASE because you can have 1.5X and 2X from the Android App, and it is DESIRED because OnStep will adjust it down to suit the microcontroller capabilities. Initially, set it to a safe value, like 2.0, then after you complete your testing set it higher to 4.0 or so.

@@khalid_ba Thanks Khalid, I am in the process of reviving an lx200 and have ordered the stm32 kit from George, but before I start building that kit would like to try onstep with a Ramps 1.4 or the MKS, whichever I find cheaper as a kit (haven't decided what drivers to use). Will use 1.8 deg stepper, 2.5:1 pulleys, and the worm wheel has 180 teeth. What do you think? Also can the ramps or mks handle 1/32 microstepping?

@@oalithgow It is best if you ask the question on the OnStep group, with all the details. There are many points, and others who converted similar mounts can can help too.

So, setup isn't the same for fork, split ring(horse shue) and equatorial?
@khalid_ba

You just select it from the list (Fork), and everything else should work. There are certain features that are only for AltAz or Equatorial, ...etc.

Hello, please take a look at thingaverse Meade+ETX70+OnStep+ALTAzm+ Mount as this design changes the entire ballgame. Next try to contact the folks with the project PC boards why not put them up on Ebay and Amazon directly no need to jump through 50 hoops to place an order.

Please share these points on the OnStep mailing list, with both points fleshed out more for all to see, and discuss.
