Keyworth Stadium opened in 1936 as part of President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal. Detroit City FC was founded in 2012 as local residents wanted to promote Detroit as a soccer city and joined the NPSL, which is 4th in the US Soccer Pyramid. Originally, Le Rouge played at Cass Tech High School before moving to Hamtramck, a city within Detroit to Keyworth Stadium. Although the stadium was run by Hamtramck Schools the stadium was pretty much run down so as part of the move DCFC Supporters known as the Northern Guard fundraised, paid and even rebuilt the stadium back to it's former glory and has been the home to Le Rouge ever since. In 2019 DCFC joined the NISA (3rd tier) and then USL Championship in 2022. Also, on April 19th, 2022, Detroit City FC would host MLS side Colombus Crew in the US Open Cup and would be the first time ever an MLS team has played at Keyworth. Detroit would go on and beat Columbus 2-1.

Sadly, the league doesn’t make enough money or generate enough revenue or have enough fans to justify spending a bunch of money for a soccer specific stadium. It’s getting there though. If we had a promotion and relegation, it would definitely help the league along a lot faster, but the progress it’s made over the last few years is remarkable. Slow and steady wins the race.

So looks like Indy 11 is getting a 20,000 seat stadium near Lucas oil stadium. Search it up. A huge stadium for a USL team is crazy. Has hopes for MLS probably. Anyways, it definitely has come a long way. There's a few other new stadiums in the USL. You should look them up!

Agreed, search up Indy 11's new stadium. 20,000 seater near Lucas oil stadium as well. MLS quality for a USL club. Soon other USL clubs will follow suit and eventually both the MLS and USL will be competing for good stadiums lol Memphis is also having their own soccer specific stadium built as well. but it will seat 10k similar to SAFC's cap.
