Ya know, I'm an old "fosil". But I tear up when I hear this Beautiful rendition of the Navy Hymn and the Battle Hymn of the Republic. One of, if not THE best, renditions of these old standards that I have seen and heard. God Bless the USNA Men's and Women's Glee Club!

And ya know what, Mike? I'm an old "fosil" too, and so do I because this IS a beautiful rendition. Truth be told hard to tell if I like this one or the one (all politics aside) from Trumps inauguration. The fireworks that were METICULOUSLY selected and timed for that rendition were of nothing I have ever witnessed before. A quote from that video's comments: "Man I was there and let me tell you that no one could prevent the shedding of a tear, it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen and heard. Never have I been more proud to be a citizen of these United States of America 🇺🇸" Just search Battle Hymn of the Republic Trump, and then skip ahead to 58 seconds. Merica!

Two hymns that bring me to tears but for different reasons. My dad was in the Royal Navy for 24 years starting in 1941. We sang Eternal Father at his funeral, I wept the whole time, unfortunately I was at the front, on my own as I was due to give some scripture readings and a eulogy, I could see the pain in my wife's eyes as she sat in the congregation. The battle hymn we sang in my school choir in the UK, in the 1960s, it just moved me immensely then and still does.

I sit here on Veterans Day with tears in my eyes as well. you might want to know that the arrangement of the battle hymn Is directly from a mormon tabernacle long play record that I inherited is the inherited from my parents. God-bless you! He does bless me every day…

Many thanks for standing with us Australia. We NEED you as much as you need us. So happy to know your son survived Afghanistan. I've been there. It's a beautiful country and wonderful/innocent kind, in general people, BUT I'm haunted by my experiences there. I PRAY your son, and our allied soldiers, never know my nightmares. They probably will though. Spent 3 years of my life over there and despair that those people will never know REAL freedom. What a waste. PLEASE embrace/be kind to your son. He HAS seem the worst of humanity, no doubt. Thanks for your peoples/government alliance with the U.S. though. Really.

When I hear the Battle Hymn of The Republic I think of the stubborn valour of the Army of The Potomac....constantly kicked to the ground by Bobbie Lee and the Army of Northern Virginia, they would get back up, brush off their uniforms and attack again and again till Appomattox Courthouse....that is why they are more remembered than the more successful Armies of The Tennessee and The Cumberland....

There are at least four very important verses to "eternal father". Why does the naval academy leave the job only half finished by singing 2 verses instead of 4? Considering the time, energy and money invested, why miss the opportunity?
