Love to see more video's on Falcon Jef - it's a pretty steep learning curve and I still have a long ways to go getting my head around it - super powerful though, and they just keep adding more and more amazing features, so it's worth the time investment to understand it methinks - cool video !

Not just a patch-maker's dream -- if you're invested in any of UVI's sample libraries or synths, practically all of it runs in Falcon. It gives you so many options the UVI workstation becomes obsolete. If you can afford it (assuming you're not Jef ;) Get it on sale if you can

So for me it’s all about results and how quick I can get to those results. I was hoping UVi would nurture a community where people can exchange patches? Or share ideas, Sadly it never happened. I still love Falcon❤️

On any given day, you'll find either Falcon or Kontakt open in my projects. Falcon is by far and away one of THE best pieces of music software ever. With just Falcon alone you'll be occupied for months getting into it. If you're a married person, be aware that it can become expensively addictive when you start adding all of the other soundbanks into it. Funny that they're called banks. It was Falcon, Kontakt and Spectrasonic that got an eye raise fromt he wife. I've manage to convince her that as long as the mortgage stays at least two months ahead and we have at least milk and bread, it's fine lol

Hi Jef, great that you're getting into Falcon. I've been using it for a couple of years, it's really impossible to describe how powerful it is. But it really takes some learning, the interface isn't the most intuitive out there. But it's worth the effort. I think there's now 17 different types of oscillator, plus sampling, over a dozen different sequencers, some of which are truly mind-bending, and a raft of world class effects and utilities. Also, you can build complex multis quite easily, there's a full mixer built in with inserts and send effects, multiple outs.. I could go on forever 🤣 I'll be very interested to see what you make of it over time.

Falcon looks amazing, but I find I’m still learning the boundaries of synths like Vital (free) and the content in Komplete 13. UVI has some great stuff, like Beatbox 2, Soul Bass and the Vintage Vault, but they’re always more expensive than I would expect. Even when on sale, they’re $59 USD each - so 3 instruments would be $180USD best case. Their SonicPass is $240USD/year - far more than Roland Cloud and other similar vendors. Is UVI stuff that good? Good enough to be double the price of Native Instruments, Arturia, Roland and Korg? I dunno…

They have a great discount deal right now. Buy Falcon and two cheap soundbanks and you will get it all for 50.% off. AND then you get a $100 voucher to get more stuff. So for about $210 you get a value of about $600.

I hope UVI just gave you a key to all of their stuff - their sound libraries are amazing. Falcon itself is a bit of an enigma - it's extremely powerful and can do almost any kind of synthesis you'll find in general synths. But the user interface is very frustrating to work with so I would never use it if I could make what I want with another synth like Pigments for example. Mostly I only use it to play UVI's own libraries, and you can do that in their free Workstation plugin. It also bothers me that Falcon has some first class audio effects built in, but it has no audio input capabilities (it's routing is pretty basic in general) so you can't use it as a general effect plugin. Instead you have to pay for UVI's standalone effects plugins, which leaves a sour taste IMO.

definitely not a customer based company.. not only is there no demo of their plugins, they charge $40 per sound library as if they should be separate..

I love the 2.8 upgrade but unfortunately only a small number of 2.8 presets load properly. M1 MacBook Air, shouldn’t be an issue. Somehow the Lua scripts that load the presets are failing on 75% of them.

Hi Jef, I am considering of purchasing a Maschine + and was wondering if are you able to trigger a chord on the Maschine (while in chord mode) via an external sequencer? Say I have a 25 key midi controller, am I able to trigger a chord with one note from it via MIDI? I know on the MPC's you are unable to do this unfortunately. Thanks!

I guess in terms of usage paradighms it is similar to Kontakt versus Kontakt Player. You can go a long way with Falcon and just the UVI factory + soundware libraries. Tweaking them via their pre-built scripting with macro controls. This is similar to using Kontakt in player mode or Kontak Player. UVI also make a free Workstation product which can be used like Kontakt Player with their libraries for this purpose if you don't want to buy Falcon. When you want to create your own sounds or modify 3rd party soundware libraries then Falcon shines with capabilities way beyond the other synthesisers I use. Like all power synths it can be a complicated beast to get to grips with but you reap the benefits of the effort you put into mastering it. Even dipping your toe into the water by learning how to change a few modulation settings and FX routings on existing patches can get you a long way. I've often wondered myself whether Falcon has its roots in an internal editing tool perhaps used by UVI when they were creating their libraries. This as a foundation might be why is has such low-level control over all facets of the sound design process. Who knows. Pure speculation.
